Amoeba AS-01 Sniper Rifle

So I was looking through my Youtube feed and saw this.

Runs on AEG springs, and uses VSR buckings. (Presumably VSR barrels as well.)

I will see about getting one and possibly making it not suck. Considering it is an ARES product...

I will likely join you on this mission!

Maybe we can make a friendly competition out of it. See what we can do independently on a budget and short time frame then meet up for a shoot off.

While Plaz and I are exactly the guys who should build the first HPA AS-01, I think that defeats the performance challenge of it.

Indeed. I want to see what the base can do before the "HPAing" of it. From the looks of it, it seems to be a starting sniper rifle.

I watched the red wolf vid too. I like it. It looks like the air volume will be tiny, but if one were to put in a short ~300mm barrel, might be ok. I like the mag feeding straight up to hopup.

I'm curious to see the street pricing, and what seer angle it is (probably 45*)

I hope for this to be cheap as a base gun so volumising it wont seriously hurt my wallet...

Hi all!

I have just joined this forum as I'm new to the world of Airsoft sniping! Chose the Ares Amoeba AS-01 for my first. Could anyone guide me on how to change the spring in this as in the UK it comes out of the box at 280fps, I have the spring needed to take it to the 420 mark but I'm not sure how to change it. Any help would be great!

A friend of mine has one of those already. Externally it's decent quality, but I think the way the replicated the magpull hunter 700 stock is very ugly. I wish someone would make a better replica of this sexy stock.

The bolt pull felt kinda unsmooth, but it was very new, so maybe this problems goes away when time passes.

The bolt pull is very short stroked. And you can't really do anything about it. So the upgradeablity on this gun is very limited. I think you cannot go past 520 fps without using an absurd spring. Even when cutting down the barrel to 330mm.

Aftermarket Parts

A US based company is currently developing a line of aftermarket parts for this gun.

Ordered one of these earlier, gonna field it stock and then start with a new barrel and bucking and go from there. I'll post my initial impressions and go a bit more in depth after i field it for the first time.

Does anyone know what trigger sears are compatible? Or pistons? Is the cylinder pinned or crimped?

Cylinder isnt pinned nor crimped. The piston is aluminium and the sears steel. The piston looks similar to the one amoeba use in their m4s but id imagine both sears and piston are proprietary

Everything in this gun is proprietary EXCEPT the barrel and bucking, both are VSR compatible
