ECHO 1 ASR(Pics+more)

Here is my review on the ECHO 1 ASR.
This is ABOUT the gun, and how to DISASSEMBLY it, and UPGRADE it.
Pictures up in a bit.

Let's start out with the box it comes in. It's a NICE box for such a cheap gun.

It was nicely packaged, and well shipped, came from Airsoftgi.com

What it COMES with. It comes with 3 Mags, a piece of crap bipod, and the gun! (No Scope.)

It's full plastic, but, as of right now, 10 months after getting it, it works like a charm still. I've lost some screws, but found replacements or fixed with E Tape.

The bolt: This is the scary part. It's TINY. But, it forces you to tighten up when you use it, causing you to become smaller.

The gun with the bipod looks great, but, you are going to want a new bipod, the bipod is bad D:.

Now, to take it part, it's easy!

Two screws on the bottom below the mag well, and one where the bipod goes, then pull the upper part of the rifle up, slide the magazine well off. Then, you slide the pistol grip area off, and you have 3 pieces. Theres a small screw where the hop-up unit is, screw that out, then use a small screw driver (Flathead) and put it where the cylinder head meets the hop-up give it a little nudge, and pull the whole barrel/hop-up right on out.
To get the bolt out, just take off the trigger, pull the black piece (Sear piece) out of the gun, and the bolt will slide right out.

Alright, time to talk about the gun itself.
The thing comes out of the box shooting a solid 450 FPS (Supposely 480).
It'll take most MK96/APS-2 parts, PDI hop-up, most tightbores, now the ECHO 1 ASR upgrade kit is something to be weary of, I'd avoid it at all costs.

Specs:
LBS: 7 LBS
Barrel Length: 455mm (AK size)
FPS:480
Upgradable:Yes!

Pros:
Cheap
Good out of the box FPS
Upgradable
Light

Cons:
Lots of work!!!

Now, to my gun. My gun is currently nearly completely upgraded.

It's given me hell, and that is the word. Sorry mods, had to be used.
I've basically replaced everything in this gun, and spent like 100 dollars in fix-it parts. It's hard to get to a point where it shoots perfect. If you are buying this gun, I suggest you are really going to stick with it. Don't buy as a flip gun, as you'll have a hard to working with it.
Weight: 8 lbs (New stock)
FPS:400 FPS w/ a .43
Accurate Distance:~220
Fartherest Shot Achieved:~400(?)
Parts used:
ECHO 1 Upgrade Kit (Hate it)
EDGI 6.01mm Tightbore
Systema Bucking
PDI Hop-up
Laylax Cylinder Head
E Tape xD

9/10 for a rating.

Nice summary. Mine has the ASR upgrade kit, PDI hop up, PDI bucking, PDI 6.01 tightbore and PDI spacers. Groups shot from 30 feet were horrible (about 6 to 8 inches based on 10 shots or so). Now it is down to the size of a quarter.

Do you think the cylinder head makes any significant difference?

Thanks!

It could possibly narrow it down a little more. Make sure to get a PDI. It's worth a try.

Depends how good of quality your stock head is. For instance, a good stock head with a fresh o-ring and some teflon tape can really increase consistency. A new cylinder head from PDI can give better results, but compared to a modded stock one, it should not be significantly different.

However, if your stock head has a worn down o-ring and little work has been done to it, a new head will give you more consistent compression and fps output results, resulting in a significant difference.

I've heard nothing fits. I'm lucky because my bestfriends dad is in the smelting/cast forming business, and if they break, I can get them made there. From over 2500 shots, I haven't had one issue with it yet. Expect the stuff I messed up :3

Thanks for the feedback. I'll open it up tonight and examine the stock (factory) cylinder head. Up to now, I have only upgraded everything on the other side of the nozzle.

If I am to upgrade the cylinder side of the nozzle (cylinder, piston, spring guide, etc.), which brand/model should I get? PDI makes cylinder/piston sets for MK96, SR2 and APS2, I just don't know which one will fit. I know that on the barrel side (inner barrel, spacers, hop-up, etc.), components made for the MK96 will fit.

Again, much thanks for your expert advice!

PM me, Ronin, or Bob if you have questions. Us three all have the gun pretty much nearly completely upgraded. I'm deciding on swapping my barrel for a PDI or Prom.

Thanks, I have found that me and chinese trigger parts dont get along and that I need to upgrade them. I want an ASR though for a custom concept that (in my head) seems cool. I will definately be pm you guys about some of the internals.

I have 1000+ rounds on my stock trigger set, all with a PSS210 spring (chronos around 640). Really really hard trigger pull, but still no slipping or signs of wear.

If there is supposed to be one and for some reason yours did not, you would know that something was wrong. If the compression seems fine you should be good. A piston that is supposed to have an o-ring but is missing one, will lead to some major compression issues.
