Classic Army SA-58 problems

Alright..where do i begin..

I picked up the rifle a few weeks ago and had always been interested in working on a gearbox. The site said it was version 3 compatible so I ordered

Guarder ITU m150 kit
matrix magnum high torque motor
11.1 lipo (waiting on charger to arrive)
burst wizard 2 mosfet
installed: new bucking and madbull steel barrel

and (tried) threw it in. The first problem, the bushings that came with the kit would not sink in the sockets which made the gears super tight not allow them to spin and after countless attempts of rebuilding I realized it wasn't going to work and threw in the stock bearings, The gears still are not super loose but SUCCESS The gearbox cycled.I also had to drill the cylinder head holes on the side to allow for the pins to enter since the gearbox wouldn't close The trigger seemed sticky and I remembered loosening the cutoff lever and convinced myself to take it apart and tighten it. Done. As I put the rifle back together the trigger felt much better but as I plugged in the battery (9.6v 5000mah) the gearbox made a strange noise. I thought maybe the motor height? Nothing, I started to take the gearbox apart but nothing seemed off, as I picked up my motor I see a strange spring attracted to the motor, a motor brush spring.. I replaced the spring 3 times (springs salvaged from stock motor) and the last time I even changed out the block holding the copper wire and a bright red flash appeared and boom, gearbox moaned, spring melted. The long side of the spring keeps melting on the positive side and I have no idea why its happening, not enough contact? Any help would be great!

Here's a video showing before the spring melting:

I also notice that i had to add many shims to the sector gear so it wouldn't rub on the spur
