Flat vs r-hop

Alright airsofters, Im almost ready to getting my DMR together. Im running 363mm barrel in it and now i need some answers what would be the best hop for it. Some people say tha flat hop is the best choice and some say that r hop with m nub is the best one. So let's get your opinions and reasons why this is the best hop.. and so on. Flat hop or R/IR-hop with m-nub?

A flat hop is quick and easy and gives you about 90% of what an r hop gives you. An r hop will give you that extra 10% because it has a little more contact surface with a bb. So it's up to you. Not really a difference in performance in my opinion.

And R-hop is more difficult to install than Flat-hop xD.

I personally would go for R HOP, but since it's more difficult to install you must go on your own now.

Having dealt with a fair number of both, I can definitely say that r hop will perform slightly better than a flat hop. Yes, r hop is a super nuisance to install and get just right, but when it's on, boy is it ON!

Flat hop is definitely easier and far more cost effective so if that extra little something doesn't bother you, it's terrific...but for the rest of us...hehehe

I've run both heavily.... and I will agree with the prior comments. Performance is comparable but the R-hop does give you a bit more. You'll also find the Flat hop will wear out much faster then an R-hop. Flat hops gradually tear away at the bucking, R-hops don't have this issue. In fact I've never heard of one wearing out from normal use.

Agreed. I was skeptical at how good an R-Hop could be because I had always run flat hops and my guns seemed to shoot better than the majority of the other guns I've seen. R-Hopped one of my guns last summer and wew lad, game changer. For me, I'd say my R-Hop was probably >20% better than my R-Hops. My BBs go farther, straighter, more consistently. Install quality is key here, though. My friend has a pre-r-hopped barrel in his 500FPS VSR and he was only getting ~10 more feet than my 350FPS G36C that I R-Hopped myself.

You're absolutely right, Crusher, quality is key...it is not an instant process by any means and the only time my hop sucks is when I try and take a shortcut...in which case, I get choked at myself and tear the gun back down and do it right anyways. hahaha

For best install I have found getting the tube with the 6mm inner diameter and 9mm outer. most barrels are 6.01-6.08 inside then 8.5~ outside so you will have a lot take away on the outside but you don't have to touch the inside so you have a perfectly smooth clean surface to engage the BB with.

Absolutely, Mike. I got some food grade silicone line off of eBay that works fabulously for r hops. It's pliable from -60C to 120C and has unbelievable 'traction' on the BB. The spin is ridiculous! 6mm ID X 9mm OD and only 6 bucks a meter. hehehe
