New aspiring Airsoft Sniper

Hey guys and girls, I’m new to airsoft and would love to get into sniping, the thing is I’m not sure as to what sniper rifle is best for beginners and or just best out of box if that’s the term. I do plan on getting fairly deep into the sport and start building a collection if you will; I just have no idea where to begin.

Most people will say not to get a sniper rifle for your first gun. I understand, I was the person who didn't really care what the veterans said, but it is a valid point. Most rifles will need tuning and upgrades to perform competitively, and you also must answer the question whether you want a semi auto DMR or bolt action.

^^Agreed^^

Having worked in an airsoft shop, I tried to steer people away from sniper rifles when they're just getting people into the sport. Most people who did buy a sniper normally came back within a month to buy an AEG after they saw how their stock bolt action performed against other people's stock AEG for the same price.

If you're still dead set on getting a sniper rifle, definitely look into getting something that's 100% VSR compatible as that will give you the most upgradeable parts. Be wary as some rifles claim to be VSR compatible but internally they really don't. This is coming from someone who still hasn't learned his lesson. I've had 3 sniper rifles that claim to be compatible, when really only certain components are.

Another great rifle is the Echo 1 M28 - it's a pretty great rifle out of the box and doesn't need much upgrading, but it is one of the rifles that's mostly VSR-10 compatible. It's $180 US and shoots 500FPS out of the box as opposed to most stock sniper rifles that shoot <400FPS and require a spring upgrade.

I do not own a BASR, but I recently read on a thread that I created that the A&K M24 is a good budget choice. Very metal-y construction and has a zero trigger already. This is important. A VSR clone like the BAR 10 may cost only 100 smackers, but you will need to upgrade to that trigger to keep the gun running anyways, and that upgrade alone will cost over $100. Again, take what I say with a grain of salt. At the moment all I have is an M14, and the rest of what I say is mostly recycled forum or internet information until I can test some of the stuff myself.
