Polarstar FE WA2000

Pictures first, everyone loves pictures

This project has been in progress for about two years, but it wasn't until very recently that I was able to resume working on it. Things started off with a 2010 Ares WA2000 spring rifle. For a while, I ran a mancraft hpa bolt in the gun, but was ultimately left very dissatisfied with it due to how far forwards the bolt is placed, making chambering rounds a hassle. That, alongside the fact that the gun needed to be loaded like an 18th century musket via an internal magazine meant that it simply wasn't fieldable. Let's not mention that it weighed 20 pounds loaded and with an optic...

Fast forward two years, a good bit of milling, drilling, and a lot of 3D printing, and she is finally done. The final result is a fully fieldable rifle with plenty of firepower to match its looks. With all the internals gutted, the final loaded weight (optic included) is only 13.5 pounds. As most of the parts are first or second revision prototypes, they are still in PLA. In the future, or as whenever they break, they will be replaced with PETG. I considered painting it, but I rather fancy the contrasting white and black. It feels like it suits the spacey theme of a WA2000. As a side note, I know that a scope ring is hanging, the optic was temporarily stolen from my M14 for some glamour pictures.

Details:
550mm prometheus 6.03 barrel
Prometheus purple bucking
Prowin hop up chamber with 3d printed arm/nub
Polarstar fusion engine V2G2 (red poppet, red nozzle)
TM M14 Magazines
Reliku, SP3CT3R, Leetworld and 1 others like this.

This is really awesome, I take it you printed the entire stock and it looks like the trigger? What does it shoot like, FPS / distance wise?

I dig this. Awesome build!

I think you'd be the first person to have an actually usable WA2000 with proper mags & hopup. Now only if you could convert that to house a VSR bucking........

Would there be room to fit a gearbox you think (was thinking V7)?

Anything that is white is printed. This includes the stock and trigger. The performance is what you would expect out of a properly tuned fusion engine build. Groupings are solid and the velocity can reach anywhere from your cqb legal limits, all the way up to 550fps with 0.45s. It's just a matter of settings. Now I'd never run those settings in a game, but it's just what the engine is capable of.

To my knowledge, Bingo Airsoft has done this conversion a good while ago, though he used aluminium parts and the original wood furniture. I considered taking the same route, but after handling the gun with its original furniture for a while, I decided against it. The grip is too small (maybe a 10 year old would find it comfortable?), and the wood scratches far too easily... As far as whether or not a V7 might fit, I would lean towards no. The fusion engine manifold/solenoid assembly barely fits as it is, with maybe less than 4-5mm of space on either side. I think a V7 would simply be too wide for it to fit. Height wise, it might work assuming you were willing to mill the top of the receiver, but then that would put your nozzle out of alignment from the barrel.
