Brand: HPA 0.40g
Color: Off-White
Biodegradable: Yes (EU EN13432 & ISO Standard 3290-2001 G3 Certified)
Purchased from: High Powered Airsoft
Date: June, 2016
Price: $67 USD for ~2,200 ($60 Bag + $7 Shipping)

In a short summary, these BB's are off-white and not perfectly white. They are polished despite their appearances up close and are quite hard but will eventually crush to enough force. There are no noticeable residues nor air bubbles either. They stay true to their weight averaging at about 0.401g and a slightly smaller size at 5.937mm overall. The biggest gripe is that these cost about $0.03 a shot compared to competitors that come in under half that per shot.

I am not including personal experiences with these BB's due to my rifle not being very accurate and what might perform for me may or may not work for you. I always encourage trying something out for yourself!

Rifleman encouraged me to post this here as well, but there is a Full Review Here if you want a bit more details and want to see the pictures better.

Has anyone tried white 0.4g bb's from Specna Arms? Im using dark grey 0.4g from guarder but they are difficult to trace, in low light conditions i can't even see them.

Nobody else posted a review of these BB's yet, so I figured I would go ahead and upload my findings. I fired about 50 rounds out of my MSR which is rather picky about the BB's it likes to feed. I am very happy to report absolutely no feeding issues and not a single flier.

These BB's have a polish that is superior to the rest of the 0.4's i have been able to try (ajax custom, bbwarz, madbull) I did not find any surface imperfections nor did I find any internal bubbles. These BB's are also extremely hard. They seem to crush somewhat, and then finally shatter. I couldn't get a very clean split for the picture below where I was looking for bubbles. Shipping was fast in the US, took two days from purchasing. These aren't cheap, but I would say I prefer it to importing overseas. I purchased 6k bb's for $80 including shipping.

I got some samples of these and they were absolutly loaded with pits and lines. the .36 they sent me looked perfect but the .40 and .43 looked horrible.

I had a sample of BBKing 0.45g white, the were way oversized.

Like 6.1mm kind of oversized.

The white 0.40g worked well though.

BLS .45g
Color: White
Biodegradable: Yes
Summary: No visible imperfections externally, and no internal air pockets. Density seems uniform, no material swirls. Feed very well.

I have been on the search for a quality heavy weight white bb. Following BLS on Facebook, I saw that they had white .45g bbs. Being that I like their lower weights (.30g and .32g are what I have tried so far) I decided to get a bag of their .45g.

For those that don't know, BLS is the OEM for many other bbs. They are manufactured in Taiwan.

At the time of purchase, they are $45.75 for a 1kg bag ~2222rds

As a comparison, I would rate the BLS .30g on part with pre-cybergun manufacture Bioval bbs (specifically their .30g). Internal, external, and polish consistency appear the same to me. I mention this because I compared the BLS .45g to the BLS .30g that I had on hand. So by extension, they can be compared to the pre-cybergun Bioval as a reference point.

First some photos of the .45g rounds.

First I measured the diameter of 10 rounds. As a note, the calipers I have are a very cheap pair from Harbor Frieght, so I question their accuracy/repeatably. Dimensions are in mm

1. 5.91
2. 5.90
3. 5.91
4. 5.92
5. 5.92
6. 5.93
7. 5.93
8. 5.90
9. 5.91
10. 5.95

Average is 5.91mm

I do not own a scale capable of measuring such a light weight so I can not provide comment on that consistency.

All visual inspections are with the naked eye. I did not use a magnifying glass or microscope.

Polish appears to be the same as their .30g. Of the handful I sampled, I only saw one very small surface pit. It appeared very shallow and could not be felt. Other than that, there were no gouges or pits, and absolutely not spruce stubs. Externally they appear to be very very similar to the .30g.

I cut open 5 bbs. When cut half way, they cracked open. They cracked open along the cut plane and did not shatter in other directions. They felt hard when initially cutting, however they blade did not slip along the bb. Again, slight brittleness after cutting halfway through. I was able to further cut the bb into quarters. No air bubbles/pockets were observed. Internal density appeared uniform through out.

In the past, I have had issue with feeding other brand heavy rounds in my midcaps. Many would jam, be difficult to load into the mag, and would have a slow feed rate when pulling the stopper back at the feedport of the mag. I loaded the magazines up and then pulled the stopper so the bbs would spray out. I used the .30g as a benchmark and compared the .45g to that. Magazines used were the MAG 100rd M4 midcaps and the G&P 170rd SR-25 midcap. Both mags loaded easily and sprayed the bbs out at very similar speeds as the .30g. With past heavy weight options the difference is speed is extremely noticeable. Tlhere were not hangups, jams, or difficulty when loading or unloading the mags, and all bbs were emptied.

I am attending a game tomorrow and will have the chance to test the .45g in my CA SR-25. After the game I will report back on in-gun feeding and flight performance. I will not have the ability to test accuracy in a "test" setting (no wind/marked range/static target). Given the initial observations above, I suspect these will feed without issue and flight performance will be good.

EDIT: Field Report.

These perform quote well, and I am very excited about using them again. It was extremely gratifying watching the bb float through the air, hit the player, and have them call themselves out. I did not have any feed issues what-so-ever. Every round fed flawlessly.

I did have some issues with over and under hopping some of the rounds, as well as a slight right hand curve. I believe this is attributed to my ER hop install and I will have to do some more tuning. When I have the chance, I will probably try these in another gun where I know the hop up works well to see if that is the issue.

But so far, these round still seem very promising.

LongBow .45s
Color: white
bought: 2017
Summary: seem to be excellent bbs, best I've ever used. LongBow is a newer company but they have so far impressed me, they have .3s, .36s, .4s, .43s, .45s and even .5s. their .5s are only available in a grey color and non bio but its the first of that weight I have ever seen. I bought both the .5s and .45. I used some of the .5s but stopped because I couldnt see the bbs that well even thought they were extremely consistent and shot very, very straight. The .45s are not far behind and are actually visible. I have gotten some seriously awesome kills with these things so far due to the extreme accuracy. They are hard, not soft bbs. They do not crush, rather they shatter if extreme force is applied. I have not had any break inside my gun. They have only broken with pliers when I was testing them.

Specna arms edge 0.43g
color: white
weight: 0.43
bio: no
overall good polish no air bubbles and good for shots to 90m
(they are made by BLS)

BLS 0.50gr
weight: 0.50
color: dark grey
nicely polished very good quality and nice consistency but the color is a huge miss, they are very hard to see so zeroing in or taking long shots is hard but possible(range is 100m+ easy)
would recommend to buy new bls 0.49 white instead.
