Ahh Did I make the Right Decision Buying This Rifle?

Hey guys. Im new to the forum and generally new to the sport of airsoft. Glad to be here and appreciate all the help i can get. I recently made a purchase on Evike because of the memorial day sale on this rifle

DSR-1 by 6mm Pro Shop+ S&T Armament (MEMORIAL DAY SALE!) 6mmProShop Gas Powered Full Metal DSR-1 Advanced Bullpup Sniper Rifle (Color: Grey) | Evike.com

I wanted to get into the world of sniping in the airsoft field with a nice, powerful, pretty, and accurate rifle rifle. However, I bought it based on the five star review before doing extensive research not found on evike. After doing some research on the internet(google), I found multiple conflicting post and videos concerning the rifle. My major concern is the accuracy. there is a review on here that touches that and they said the rifle does not shoot straight and that his rifle arcs the pellet to the right. I do not want a rifle that is inaccurate. However, the review on this forum is very old and i am hoping that they have made some changes regarding the accuracy of the gun. More than likely, I will probably be getting the same gun with the same flaw of accuracy as the user for that review. What should I do? I don't think I am able to return the rifle after shooting it. So I can't give the accuracy a test and return it. I don't see how evoke could tell if I did shoot it or not tho. I bought it for a good deal @ 300$ but I am worried that I have wasted my money on a very pretty but useless hunk of metal. Can anyone give me pointers or info on the rifle? I am also unsure about the differences between the Ares DSR-1 and this S&T Armament Rifle? This is the first time owning a green gas rifle. Any pointers? If you guys suggest me to return, what should I buy based on a 300, 400, and 500$ budget price point? I have a pretty high quality scope from my PCP air gun days from MTC so I just need the rifle, bullets, and powerplant(gas, HPA, Spring).

Definitely a good looking rifle, but far from anything usable. At all. More of a collector piece to hang on the wall than something you'll actually play with.

If you want a good gas-powered BASR pretty much the only good option is the M40A5 by ASG / VFC. It's super consistent, build quality is extremely good, and the only upgrades needed are a bucking and perhaps a barrel. So that's about 50 bucks for the Maple Leaf 6.02 590mm inner barrel specifically designed for it + the Autobot 70/75 bucking, and you're done. Still cheaper than the base price for that DSR.

The M40A5 is miles ahead of similar designs like the M700 by Tanaka/KJW, the G96 by G&G, and any other gas sniper rifle. Including of course any Ares design, like that DSR. When upgraded with a new bucking and barrel, the M40A5 has nothing to envy from a fully upgraded VSR, which is the next best thing you could do (and what most others would recommend instead, but I'm a gas freak)

If you're open to spring-powered options, then the most common and recommended build is a BAR-10 with Action Army chamber, Maple Leaf Autobot 70 bucking, Maple Leaf Crazy Jet 410mm inner barrel, Maple Leaf concave nub, and whatever trigger group you fancy. My personal choice would be Airsoft Pro's, but changing it's awful spring for a PDI 450.

Thanks for the advice. Where do you suggest me get this stuff in the USA?
I've heard great things about Novritch's sniper. You think i should just preorder it now and give it a wait?

The Novritsch SSG24 seems to offer great performance out of the box, but you have to be willing to wait several months for it. I bought one mid february and it still hasn't shipped my way. I don't mind because I have other guns though.

If you are looking into spring BASR and you don't mind the rather toy-ish feel of the stock, a VSR is probably your best option performance-wise. You need to do some work to it but nothing too complicated. I've heard they perform really well with just some drop-in mods.

ASG M40A5 is available in all major airsoft stores throughout the USA. But they seem to be out of stock in most places, maybe googling can help :p

As for the Novristch gun, it's fairly decent if you want something you can use just out of the box. Being in the USA, I would place a custom order in Airsoft Atlanta for their pre-upgraded VSR-10 instead. It's pretty much what most of us would build if given such budget. Only thing I would change is the nub for a Maple Leaf concave one, other than that it's nothing short of perfection. Maybe you can ask them to do so.

Amazing guys. I am changing my mind again. Looking to get a HPA gun. I heard they are usually more accurate than spring guns. I am into airgunning and just got a air rifle called an FX wildcat and a HPA 72CUFt CF tank. Not much money left for an airsoft gun but I am wanting to buy a new one from a site any recommendations, thoughts? I get about 450$ returning all the green gas stuff with the DSR-1. So i can save a little extra money for a HPA gun. Something accurate that can reach out there.
