SSG24 vs VSR-10

I have lots of trouble making up my mind. JG Vsr-10 G-spec all internals upgraded vs the Novritsch SSG24. Either way I'll be spending near the same amount of money. But I'd have to wait multiple months for the SSG24.

Performance wise the SSG is suppossed to be on par with a fairly tuned vsr-10.
Money wise it will depend on where you live, due to the cost of importing and/or availability of guns and parts in your location.

With that said, the SSG has a LOOOOOOONG waiting period. I ordered one on february to see for myself what the fuzz is about and I'm getting it today.

What did you end up figuring out?

PS: please don't turn this into another novritsch-hating I-can-build-a-better-vsr-for-half-the-money thread

But it's true. The only reason to get an SSG24 is that you want a decent-ish performing rifle without spending time building it. By doing it yourself, you can make something that is both better and cheaper.

No ability to do tech work: SSG24
Some ability to do tech work : SSG24
Some ability, a lot of time, willing to read and make mistakes: VSR
Good at tech work, some time, and willing to read to learn :VSR
VERY good at tech work: VSR
VERY good but lazy as hell : SSG24
VERY good but want a back up rifle while you tech your VSR: classic army m24 ltr (SSG24 if you are made of money)

Bottom line is if you can't tech, won't tech or want a rifle that always works WHILE you are working on your VSR.. SSG24 is a great choice. The trade off is it will be about 70-80 percent of what you can get out of a built VSR and will never get any better. Now don't get me wrong, that last 20% is where all the effort and skill comes in really, but it is both worth the accuracy , power, weight and pride to DIY.

Now if you get something like a JG Bar 10 and all the upgrades listed here in the forum, slap them in leave it at that, you pretty close to what a SSG24 can do with less weight, and you can always improve it from there with custom mods and it can keep getting better and better the more we learn. But if you are going to just leave it in that state.. the SSG24 may be a better option for you.

For a cheep , out of the box back up rifle while your VSR is being worked on, when you screw up your build the night before a game, or those days when you need a grab a go rifle. The CA M24 LTR is a cheap alternative that can get the job done out of the box.

BTW... For those who don't know... The real secret to Noverish accuracy is in the ammo ;)

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. That is in fact true, I just meant that for posts that say the same but in a non-constructive way (hence the Novritsch hating part). A lot of people can't seem to see past the fact that it's his rifle, but I think it's great to compare it objectively based on price and performance instead of by it's name.

I believe since the first thread introducing the SSG here in the forum the hate has cooled down a bit and more people have recognized that it's a viable option for people who don't want to or can't tech, and that have the money to back that option. Every day we read posts here from people who have trouble with their builds, I imagine there's a lot more out there in the same situation and even more who don't even dare to tech on their guns, all of whom might see the SSG as a good option.

Personally, I bought it because I'm curious and because I plan on using it as a benchmark to build rifles that I can personally prove that perform better for less.

I'm still intrigued by what SuperSneakySniper finally decided and why though.

I get your point, Falken. The only issue I have with it is that it's being sold with the promise of conquering the world and at a premium price (because it says 'Novritsch'), yet, as far as rifles go, it is not all it's hyped to be. Good rifle? Sure! Will you single handedly topple a small regime? No... So, because of the BS factor, I'm out..

You can invest either money or time or money & time.

So what is the range of an upgraded vsr-10? And I've never upgraded an airsoft gun but if that ends up being my choice I'm gonna spend as much money as the SSG24 is on a VSR

If anybody comes back to this post how about this. JG Bar-10 G-Spec, Novritsch Tuning Kit, AA hop up chamber, nineball bucking, AA Barrel Spacers. How does that sound and how much better would it be than the SSG24?

I've made my final decisions. Yes I'm good with tech work, but I just want to go out with my friends and have a gun that always works and is very reliable, so I'm going with the SSG24

Just a thought here...if you do your own tech work, and do it right, the gun you build will be rock solid and dependable. I know exactly how my L96 will perform shot after shot. I built it. It always works...always...and unlike the SSG24, I have loads of money left over for steaks and beer after the game. just sayin'. :)
