So I've been experimenting with homemade nubs lately and throwing ideas around in my head. So far I've tried nerf foams(works okay, but everytime I turn my hop-up on I have to re-zero my scope). I've been working on cutting a pencil eraser properly, but have to to try it.
I was wondering if sturdy paper would work? It would be easy to shape into the cylindrical shape and easy to cut. I also just read in another thread about using thick wire, which sounds feasible. I've also thought of using a shoelace.
What materials have you guys made a hop-up from? How were the results?
I actually recently purchased a lonex motor for a project build I have. The motor came on a chunk of thick foam stuff. I plan to pair that with my R-hop patches to make a M-nub type thing.
Hey I feel so much like a noob for asking this but what exactly is a hop up nub??? I'm some what confused between thinking its either the rubber part that contacts the bb, or is it the bump thing on the hop up arm the one that pushes down on the rubber???? I'm thinking its the bump thing on the arm but I just want to be certain that it is what I think it is.
I spent most of the day testing out my rifle. Over all not to bad! I need to play with the hop-up to get it really zeroed in (and zero in my scope) but it fixed allot of hooking because its sitting straight now and not crooked.
Update.. I have got my hop-up set really nice and I must say, the new nub is working amazingly! I am so consistent I can hit the head on a bold about 80ft away. Although there are probably better materials, the nail mod works for me.
I usually just use the soft rubber casing from electrical wires. Some of my Aeg's have soft rubber casing and I just use that. I actually end up with great results. I have never tried anything else to be honest. I believe the softer the better when it comes to nubs. I dont think I would want to try anything hard like metal or whatever. I feel the nub should be able to flex and slightly squish I guess I could call it.
Right, it had a curve to the shots till I chopped the hard "fang" nub and glued on that rubber. It made a huge difference,lol.. not to mention the fang style is just a terrible idea in the first place. I dont like having to replace buckings every few months due to the fangs biting through the bucking,lol.. I have noticed that with too hard of a nub, I would get bbs jammed up inside the hopup.
Oh sorry did not see that this thread was dropped.
