A&K m24 Sniper Good?

I recently watched a disassembly of this gun stock and the only two things that I think I would have to absolutely replace would be the hopup arm and barrel, and maybe the spring. 90deg piston, steel spring guide, sound dampeners, and some other goodies for $150. Looks like a steal for me but what do you guys think, are there any catches? Parts that work with it? This could bring me back to have a look back at spring airsoft sniping.

Also I think if I remember correctly A&K is a hit-or-miss quality control, so I’d like to know if they have a warranty. Everything is proprietary but the hopup and barrel (only things I would work on) are Bar-10 compatible (or so they say).

If you don’t understand what rifle I’m talking about, here’s a link:

https://www.evike.com/products/62969/

Thanks,

Antoni.

I am currently working on my own copy so I will throw in a few cents.

- Overall quality is great, steel cylinder, aluminum piston and metal (not sure if Al or steel) spring guide. It also has a great 90 degree steel sear.
- Trigger system can be upgraded with a British upgrade (name i forgot), but since it's completely made up of steel there is no need for upgrades.
- No piston upgrades and spring guide work with it but there is no need for an upgrade.
- Spring should be compatible with VSR-10 as well as Type 96.
- Hop up chamber is proprietary and cannot be upgraded (wtf Action Army, make it a chamber and it will be golden) but uses VSR stuff. This includes hop up arm (i suggest Maple Leaf), inner barrel (will require a bit of sanding to get rid of the grooves of the internal sides of the chamber), and hop up rubber.

The major issues of this rifle includes
- Massive QC issues. Even though it should be VSR compatible it gave me more headaches than the Snow Wolf M24 solely because of all the problems in dimensions (such as the hop up chamber couldn't close completely because the slot for the bucking is a tad bit too tight).
- Heavy. At 3.5kg it is incredibly heavy, even compared to other heavy rifles such as the M40 family.
- The plastics it uses are awful. They are super brittle and easily worn down.
- Magazine design is garbage.

All in all for a gun at $150 (I got mine at $80 completely new btw) it is an okay pick, especially considering you wouldn't need to upgrade most of the stuff of this rifle unlike the BAR-10.

IMO is the best budget sniper rifle, and can perform just as good as a top tier upgraded gun. All it needs is a hop bucking, barrel and hop arm. Maple Leaf would be my choice.

Depending on your local FPS limits you might want to upgrade the spring too. Be careful when doing that, disassembling the cylinder head is the most difficult process as it's firmly loctited in place.

Thanks! Thatís exactly what I wanted to upgrade. Do you have any hopup arm recommendations? Maple leaf?

Also I will get the King Arms bucking because someone on this forum said that it worked well and others did not (perform as well).

Are there any good magazines with higher capacities that work with this gun?

I upgraded one, pretty as described but one thing I did was to sand the inside of the receiver with sandpaper down to grade 800 grit then I polished it, it made the cylinder return so smooth as good as my upgraded VSR. And I made blue tape barrel spacers as well

I'd go with Maple Leaf all the way. ML Autobot bucking, ML hop arm, ML barrel (Crazy Jet if budget allows for, otherwise the regular 6.02)

But that's me. I'm a shameless ML fanboy :p

Thatís exactly what I chose to do... yes!

I am new to airsoft by the way, have no airsoft guns but some high power air rifles and one that weighs 1.5lbs less then this sniper and is about the same length.

For $350, I have figured out to get a whole sniper setup with a vest, a sidearm and spare magazine (cheap but should work for now, not a spring piston but not blowback so should have less gas issues), two magazines with this sniper + the upgrade parts, 10,000 .30 bbs (I have to because thatís my fields limit and beyond that I would have to risk my sniper getting rejected for play or I would have to have a med of 150ft...), 5,000 .20s (for pistol), bdu, lancer tactical aero goggles, matrix carbon steel lower face mask with ear protection, sling, condor Stryker gloves, and maybe a sj4000/tubular eBay camera. This should be all together ~$360 as MAP items stop being map items during Black Friday and there should be a 25% discount on everything or a coupon code at the least.

Hope this setup will work, thanks for all the advice. This brought rifle back from AEGs, and now I donít have to do more research and just wait.

Thanks,

AK

No magazines other than its own would work with it. It's completely proprietary.

I will go ahead and just assume you did this before, how did you get around with the super heavy trigger issue of the A&K? I am shooting sub-2J and the trigger is so hard and rigid it might as well be shooting 4Js.
