First VSR

Hey everyone just wanted to ask a couple questions may turn into more as the thread develops.

First i want to start by saying i want to buy and upgrade my own vsr as everything i've read says i can make one as good as the ssg24 or better for much cheaper. Where can i find the cheapest base vsr thats reliable, ive found several on ebay already but theyre all "WELL" VSR 10's.

Second i've seen multiple posts on different websites and there seems to be a big argument on which company's parts i should use, Action Army or PDI?

Third are all the other VSR upgrade guides here still valid or are there even better newer parts people are using? i don't want to buy the old stuff and find out i could of got newer stuff since most guides are a few year back and tech changes often.

The guides are valid for the most part and I encourage you to search the VSR forum's recent posts for updates on any new parts.

A Bar 10 is typically regarded as the cheapest VSR compatible base to start with and keeps the price the lowest.

Action Army is a Laylax copy and their parts are very good. You definitely want their hop up. The only thing they make that I've seen mixed reviews on are their barrels. Any quality steel tightbore barrel with an open window will work well for you. PDI is good stuff, but there are a ton of brands.

PDI has a fanboy following - especially in Europe - that is a bit overhyped. Again, they're good barrels, but they're not anything special vs a Laylax or similar.

The WELL based VSR10 are good too. The only thing is that you need to upgrade the cylinder where with the Jing Gong Bar10 you do not. So if you can't find the JG Bar10, then get the WELL and upgrade the cylinder (As well as everything else).

so i see the evike jg bar10 is pretty much the lowest price for no scope upgrade or anything but then i found a G SPEC version on amazon for only $15 more. does the silencer on it even work? Not like its suppressing any gas on release so idk how it would even help the noise, and would the extension of the silencer change anything about accuracy or range?

also i found a crazy jet inner barrel that says its $0 dollars not sure if this is real.

The suppressor can actually reduce muzzle pop on spring rifles. Keep in mind that the majority of the sound comes from the piston hitting the cylinder head, so a suppressor will only do so much. Volume matching the bb weight to your barrel length, or using a heavier bb than you're matched for, will also reduce the sound effectively.

When it comes to how much foam actually makes a difference with a VSR type rifle, I've found anywhere from 1-3" of foam is really all you need past the barrel crown to reduce the pop. Any more really doesn't have much of an effect (not that they do whole lot anyway).

The extension won't have any effect on accuracy or range.

The silencer do help. Well more than what most other silencers do.
