We hit the wall....and looked the other way...

Y'know, as an old dog you try and help the younger ones out. Y'know, they ask a question, and you try and help them work through it, that kind of thing. Much like we do here.

Well, forgive me fellow airsofters, but last week I enacted the 5th. Took an oath of silence, and simply stated 'I'll look into it when I get a minute', knowing full well, there will be no such minutes and I'm more likely to look into buying a gator infested swamp in Florida.

Let me elaborate...there is a local airsoft club in the area. There are a few good apples, but lately, it's primarily dominated by those who know everything, are absolutely omniscient, and even worse strongly veer towards being sanitary washing bags both on and off the field. The character in question is a younger buck who a couple of years ago I helped out with some sniper rifle questions and thought he was on the path, y'know? Well I left the club because of said foul wash water and quite honestly haven't missed it all that much, nor have I felt overwhelmingly compelled to attend any of the games or events. Nope, you just don't need that kind of negativity.

So, back to the young buck..now on a general page, he's asking the EXACT same questions he did two years ago. In other words, hasn't learned a darned thing. A toilet flush is more productive, y'know?

I still get notifications on social media when people post in those groups, but instead of even acknowledging the post and telling him to smarten up, I fear I did even worse...I just passed it over. That's right, complete apathy and not even really giving a damn.

I write this here because on a personal level does it mean we're bad for seriously not giving a rodent's posterior? Do we have an oath to help when called upon? Or is it ok to quietly fade into the shadows...

POST HAS BEEN EDITED TO REMOVE OFFENSIVE SUPERLATIVES

Don't feel bad, I do it all the time. (Especially on Facebook.) I am all for helping people, but if you do not want to learn your gun and how to take care of it, you can fuck right off. If you are throwing money at me to fix your crappy 2nd hand Lancer Tactical, and I tell you no. Maybe, just maybe, you should ask me why I won't and learn something.

I feel you 100%...
In the beginning most people will try to help and spread any knowledge they might have. Then they will always meet more than one a-hole that they helped in the past, trying to prove something or do harm . At the end you end up keeping any knowledge to yourself or make them pay a good amount of money for it. It's the only thing they will respect.

This forum however seems to be worthy of your (and others) knowledge and time.

There is no excuse with the internet. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY THIS FORUM IS HERE and others like it so we wont have to keep fucking repeating ourselfs on the field instead of doing what we are there for , TO PLAY AIRSOFT

We help people all the time! Its all right here in one nice simple place with a search button at the top.

Now thats not to say when I find someone who is genuinely seeking knowlage and I deem is serious and humble about truly learning, or has tried and tried and cant just get it right that I wont share. Or do a quick fix on a kids gun to get him back in the game, as long as it dosen't take much.

For example, a player has bar 10 , shows up a few weeks, dosn't brag about his upgrades but tries sighting in his rifle every week and just isn't quite there where he wants it. Sure, ill help advise some proper upgrades or tweaks , refer him here, and even talk tech stuff with him. Heck, he may have found something that I haven't yet so it works both ways. But im not about pearls before swine

On a side note, here's a fun one.
Kid : I got no range
me: did you clean your rifle lately?
Kid: ya i took it apart and sprays eveything with silicone oil!
Me: your and idiot
Kid: can you help
Me: fine, let me see

The kid had put his hop up in upside down and tore the bucking -_-

Cool, well, it appears we've all seen it. Hahahahaha....

Absolutely correct ArcAngel...search button. It's all over the place. Maybe that's what bothers me...the severe lack of desire to fight their way out of the proverbial wet paper bag. hehehehehe

To those who like to emphasise with swearing, can they edit their words to more educated words that would not offend a 12 or 13 year old who may be reading this forum? Cheers
(I personally hate reading posts that have swearing. So I am the swearing police. LOL)

It is hard to help people not willing to help themselves. And answering the same question to the same person over and over again just starts falling into Einstein's definition of insanity.

especially when mommy aint watching. My son watches a lot of gaming videos and some of these pre teen little jerks think they are some kind of gangsters playing video games. I don't mind it much but the wife makes him turn that stuff off all the time. I figure he already knows all those words. him choosing to use them isn't going to change because i shielded him from it. It will be because i whipped his bottom for saying it.

I agree. A lot of kids are pretty bad.
My kids hate it when people swear. I don't do it and so they have become the same.

I think it depends on the circumstances, really. We live in a very hostile environment/climate. Tensions are high because of it and the work is hard. Letting off a little steam prevents things from escalating sometimes. Call it a verbal form of pressure safety valve. hahahahaha

Is it necessary? Well, if it keeps us from tenderizing the mucus out of each other, why not...let er rip. If some think it unnecessary to let the manure hit the oscillating rotor every once in a while, come on up here when it's 40 below for weeks on end and you're working outside in the dark (only 6 hours of daylight here in the winter) while your lungs burn from the cold on a 12 hour shift. Do that a few times and believe me, you'll lose proper protocol in a day. hehehehehe.

I was reading and thinking how y’all old and grumpy, but ultimately may have a point. Then lunch happened, I’m sitting here contemplating life.... you know how you learnt italian in school but then haven’t said a darn thing in it in past couple years and you just forgot it as if you didn’t know it at all. See what I’m saying?
He may have learned something about fixing rifles, but then he fixed it and he didn’t need to do it again for two years and he just forgot how to do it? You need to exercise that memory else something new gets written over it. So all an all, I know there are more dumb people than good ones, but n... lunch over, got to go......
