Your best game ever?

This weekend 1tonne and I played a 28hr long game called faction wars in Taranaki New Zealand.

Based on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R video games we spent time hiding from Russian Military, brainwashed super-soldiers, and unkillable mutants. While some 40 other Stalkers formed into factions joined us in the hunt for artifacts scattered around our airsoft field. There wasn't a lot of shooting, but there was a lot of sneaking and making or breaking deals with various factions. We'd be given missions like kill targets or find a specific thing from an NPC trader that was the coordinator of the whole event. Crazy amount of fun. In 10yrs of playing airsoft, this is the best game I have EVER played.

I'm aware this won't be the only fun thing around the world so what else is out there. What stand out event have you been part of?

Yeah, the psychological games are the best.

One perk of living here is that we get almost 20 hours of daylight in the summer months. A couple of years ago we got a good rain on an afternoon and as we cool off quickly in the evenings, it made for a thick mist in the gully. Well, call it the Canadian jungle. The ferns were thick to begin with and now visibility was down to maybe 20 feet. Under the canopy of the trees combined with the mist it made for a very terrifying situation. The light at 10PM here comes in through the foliage almost sideways with a sick orange glow to it. It was perfect. All we were missing was CCR on a boom box.

Lots of knife kills, distracting noises, silent takedowns, all that really creepy stuff that messes with your head...but interestingly, like yourselves, not alot of shooting. At one point a buck deer came ripping down the middle of the creek and the three of us in there almost had a heart attack! hahahaha. Visibility was so bad, it almost smashed right into us. With that noise came a huge firefight that got set off by the commotion. There's nothing scarier than a blowback AK rattling away with absolutely no idea where it's coming from. We didn't get hit, but pretty sure the deer did!

The sun finally set at around 11:30 in the evening and the mist lifted (started getting cold of course) so we packed it in and finished off with a bbq. Sure, burgers at midnight, why not right?

Sadly, that field is no longer, those players have dispersed but anyone who was there remembers it well. We call it 'The Nam Game'.

It was a really good game. STALKER rocked.
I liked it for the fact that it is a very social game. Most games are just team onto team. In Stalker you need to discuss with your team who you are going to be friends with and then try to get the other team to help you by bartering and trading or just helping them in some way. So there is a lot of talking, making friends and sometimes backstabbing. Sometimes the game was down right frustrating (if you have a big bounty on your head) and other times it was just really awesome fun.
So I really enjoyed the social side of it.

By the way, SHEED and me had a 6 man team and we managed to win (Doubled the score of any other team). Awesome. Also racked in a loner to help us win as well. (Thanks for the help MIKE)

Would be cool if people out there know of other games like this that we could try out.

Ballahack Airsoft in the USA hosts a post-apocalyptic RPG in the winter months. Something I want to make my way out to for sure!

Sounds amazing! We've played in the morning mist, our field is right at the foot of Mount Taranaki and in the spring > summer change over we can get some awesome misty days. But nothing as epic as what you're talking about here! I'm jealous haha.

Don't be overly impressed, Sheed...most of this time this place is a hell hole on par with Siberia. The reason why it was such a standout for us is that it NEVER happens. It was truly a right time/right place scenario that has never been replicated since. Even the field is no longer! hahahaha

No, most of the time the climate here is very uncooperative and unpleasant. For example, it's March and many places are enjoying the temptations of spring, but here we are heading into another -25C weekend with snow, etc,...all the way until late April to mid May...maybe even June.

It is I who is truly jealous. I see pictures of New Zealand and can't even believe such a place even exists on the same planet.

I went last year, and I'm planning on going again this year.

In Florida there's also "Wasteland" which happens twice a year. One the weekend before thanksgiving, and the other floats around mid year. I've been going to both of those for some years now, but it's miserably hot and humid around mid year.
