Ghillie suit vs. Ghillie poncho

Hey guys, I would like to know your thoughts on the benefits of Ghillie Suits, versus the benefits of Ghillie Ponchos. I know what I think, but I'm slightly biased, so it will be good to here what other people think.

Personally, I find it varies depending on the terrain and game type. For instance, the local field I play at has a lot of open space, with some woodland areas here and there. A full suit would slow me down, and probably do more harm then good. However, a small lightweight poncho or viper hood would be great for wearing, as it won't slow me down, but will provide ample camouflage when in the woodland areas.

However, at other fields, where it is 95% woodland area, a full suit would be extremely beneficial, especially in the winter, when there is a lack of vegetation growing up to conceal a person easily. With a full body suit, I am able to blend in with the dead leaves and vegetation lying on the ground, and really conceal myself. While a viper hood or poncho would provide some coverage, my lower back and leg area will be sticking out, and makes avoiding people walking by, much harder (as there is a lack of vegetation growth to hide among).

Thanks for the help fuzzywolly, I agree with your summary of where and when to use the Poncho, but I was thinking, since the ponchos are generally lighter, in more sparsley wooded areas, would it not be more beneficial to wear ghillie pants with the lighter ghillie poncho instead of a full suit?

My two cents,

I personally wear suits with zero coverage on the front. For me, a full suit involves its coverage on the boonie, back of BDU, and back of BDU pants. Sorry if that sounds confusing, but I never run a ghillie suit with 100% body coverage, as I find it unnecessary. I hope that clarifies what I meant.

So in the winter, if I run a suit, its usually a BDU with back coverage, a ghillied boonie, and lightly covered ghillie pants. However, a viper hood with a back drape extension along with ghillied pants can also serve me well, and makes it easier to run my chest rig/have access to gear.

It depends on the terrain or area where you will be using them. Personally, I like ghillie suit since it provide whole body coverage. No problem with blending. I will get a light ghillie suit that will make it very easy for you to move around.
