magnetic BBs - Good or bad for use

watched this video and realize my grey 0.4g bb have same like BB in video ( 0.4g grey airsoft GI bb made by action army ).

So I wonnder is it still good for use ? Because some comment in video said it make barrel wear out more easily. . I don't want hurt my wallet so much to replace new inner barrel.

unless you magnetise the bbs you wont have any issues at all.
if you have magnetise the bbs you might have some issues if you have a steel barrel but whit most barrels made out of brass this wont be an issue as brass isnt magnetic and most hopup cambers are made out of either aluminium or some aloy and those or not magnetic either.

and no i dont think its more abrasive then normal bbs either so there wont be any more wear than any other bbs.

but this is bringing up some interesting toughs tho.

here is the concept i tough of.

what if you place a magnet strip along the topside if a barrel and use these bbs.
and drop the hop-up chamber entirely and use the friction on the barrel as a hop-up.
by doing this you will have a more or less consistent track down the barrel the bb will follow.
tho changing the hop will be a slight pain as you need to cut the magnet shorter for less hop and add more for more hop.

idk if this will actually work but i would love to test it but... (yes there is always a but...)
i dont have the money or the gun to test this the concept . so maybe some one else has the stuff needed for this

Very interesting idea with the magnetic hopup! I do you think you would need a special barrel or r-hop patch for better friction.

I'm currently use 510mm steel inner barrel ( test with neo magnets, it pretty weak so not sure it pure 100% steel or something else, lol ).

Look like I will test it and if something wrong, I will switch to another brass barrel.

Quality stainless is non/virtually nonmagnetic (3xx grades). Lower grades of stainless becomes slightly to quite magnetic (4xx grades). Lower grades can rust too
Crusoe and kazuchan like this.
