Opinion on mock silencers

What's your opinion on mock silencers? I would like to buy one as they are relatively cheap, but I don't know if they are prone to breaking and if they are cumbersome. The extra length added to an already long sniper is putting me off.

I was looking at FMA silencers here but I don't know if I am better going for a higher quality brand.

Thanks

They key word here is 'mock'. Other than looking really cool, they're kind of a nuisance on an already long rifle. I love my long guns, but they have to functioning at that length or there isn't much point. If you're using a suppressor to lengthen an inner barrel, that's a different story. I did this to a G36 I used to have and it made a huge difference, but just on there to be on there, not really.

If the barrel was actually steel and the threads weren't so poorly machined, I wouldn't be so worried about breaking the end of the barrel off, or wrecking the threads. Unfortunately with alot of aluminum outer barrels you do run the risk of damaging them.

Perosnal taste, but personally? It's a big no here....unless we're hiding an inner barrel.

Mock? There is no point running a mock suppressor unless you want to hide an extra long inner barrel.

Cream fill that banana or nothing.

Generally, a mock suppressor is just a cheap solution for hiding a longer inner barrel, or an aesthetic add in. I agree with BMR. If you're going to add that thing on, even if it's just for aesthetics, you might as well sneak in some functionality to it. There are niche uses where some mock suppressors are actually tracer units, but that's a different topic...

There is NO good reason for a mock suppressor

They add length, They are useless , they are just a looks thing, they add weight , they prevent the use of FUNCTIONAL muzzle devices.

IF you want a longer inner barrel , buy a longer outer barrel , the price isn't all that different.

If you want the suppressed look, then cream fill it and make it functional and removeable on the field, then you can either shorten the weapon if you need to, add a muzzle device to help with airflow (which btw cream filled units are GREAT at) or swap it out for a tracer unit

But as for a mock unit??? Oh god no! Now there is one possible exception to this rule and it involves money. If you already have a rifle with a mock unit like a Gspec or a Honeybadger and want to volume match on the cheep by extending the inner barrel , then I suppose that's valid, its a cheep way to go about it, but IF you have to BUY a unit, then it's a no go, there are better ways for close to the same money to accomplish that which work much much better
