When your pistol runs out of ammo, the slide locks back right? Okay. When you load a new mag, how do you release the slide? do you use the slide release or do you rack the slide to release it?

I can't reach the slide lock with my thumb on my 1911A1 so I will likely rack it.

I use the slide release. It's much, much faster than racking the slide.

I prefer to rack the slide (power stroke) because I can't stand the thought of the slide release digging into the slide... Especially on real steel pistols with such heavy springs, I HATE DOING THAT. It just feels better to power stroke.

Im right there with you. The way I handle/shoot guns is just from how my dad taught me, and I'm not stopping now. I treat my airsoft guns like real firearms, as airsoft for me is just shooting at a moving and reacting target. I like it to be as real as possible, even if at sometimes counterproductive (I hit the bolt release on my M4s, just so I don't build up any bad habits by accident.)

Well, to be honest, I'd probably also powerstroke my Desert Eagle, if it werent for the fact, that it cannot be powerstroked.

Weird fact is, if i slap my mag in, it automatically kicks the slide forward.

I do however do a pat on the slide, to ensure its in battery (am i even saying this correctly?)

Yeah, can't do it with my 1911 either, so I put in the mag, pull the slide that little bit back, hit the release with my thumb, and let go of the slide. No big deal.
Killer: Oh, and I've seen a few pistols do that... But does it get the BB into the chamber? Or is it just.. A flaw?

@Killer & Rubiks That mag insert slide release thing is referred to as an "auto forward slide action". I've heard of Glocks and M&Ps doing that. I'm not too up on it so take it with a grain of salt. But hears a vid that might help out on it, it's at the 1 hour mark where they really get into that specific pistol function. It's also worth the full watch. Trust me.

Unfortunately, I've only got 1911 pistols so it's non existent on those.

On my airsoft glock and my real steal glock I use the slide release. its so much faster and I've been trained in a more short distance self defense style, in which speed is everything.

^ Does it really matter?

The problem is that especially during the last few months there have been so many new threads about the same things or kinda pointless threads. Now even this forum has started to fill up and getting sort of messy(?). I don't know maybe forums just feel more professional when things are where they should be. This isn't too bad yet but in my eyes it has the wrong direction currently.

How is it in the wrong section? The section very clearly lists sidearms as a topic of conversation. I see nothing wrong with this here... Can you please cite another topic asking the same question?

#20 ·
The ''wrong section'' wasn't pointed directly to this thread, more of a all around thing as was the repeating the same questions too. My opinnion about what is wrong in this thread was on my first post: I see this as a completely useless thread. No offense to anyone.

NoMonitor, I don't think you read ha post carefully enough. He didn't say it's in the wrong section, he said it's a little pointless.

I disagree oderfa. There is a point to this thread. It's a small trivial matter, but it isn't just taking up space. When things get too spread out or messy, like all the r-hop info, or the TDC info, we make compilations of all that info, like my TDC guide, or my r-hop database. When people constantly asked about the LRB because the info was too spread out and messy, there was a guide made for it, and the wax barrel spacer.

It doesn't make the forum look less professional either, just because there are too many unimportant threads. If just means we are covering all grounds. Once you get down to the little things, you are just find tuning the larger ones. (Yeah I know, I'm straying from your point a bit)

And if threads are repeated, we tell them about it, and to research things before asking questions. Sometimes we have very similar threads, but they offer different and new info, and once there is enough of it, someone will put it all not a single thread.

Yes, we tell them the use search and maybe even show some of the search results. I have done this recently few times when I have seen new thread and remember we have very similiar/same already. I search for it and post links to those threads. But so far it seems like nobody even cares about it and the conversation continues in the new thread instead of it would have been moved to the already existing one or removed. I think that is the main reason the information is so spread out. Seems like there is no control on new threads. Of course if the already existing thread is years old then the new thread is ok but when it is only few months from the last post.......
