Archwick VSR Chamber review

If your reading this then you will know that yes I got the chamber.

Out of the package: The box the unit comes in is nice. Magnetic closure, cut out cardboard holder for the chamber. Mine was loose and the chamber was pitched around a little, no damage though.

Comes with a bag of goodies containing, an hex key, arm spring, 2 nubs (one conventional nub, one concave), adjustment screw, 2 barrel retention set screws, and a clear maple leaf-ish bucking (guessing its silicone based and probably 45-50 hardness. its pretty soft.)

Included bucking: Its clear, has a triangular shaped patch with a channel running down the center. Ill be trying it out with the chamber.

Detents: The bb detents are a slightly different design then AA. the Archwick are made from the same smoky grey plastic as the nubs. Makes getting decent photos of them a pain. Not sure how I feel about them.

O-ring: There is an oring on the front of the chamber. No clue what its for and it does not protrude out of the body. Basically it does nothing. At this point its completely useless and could be removed from the machining process to slim costs slightly, as it functionally does nothing. My guess as to what it should be for is to keep the chamber aligned in the barrel with some friction.

Barrel spacer: Has holes that line up with the lock down grub screws. Probably to keep the barrel from rotating in the unit.

Nubs: Made from a smoky grey clear plastic. Neither fills the window of the chamber fully. Though I do not think it needs to as the nubs are kept in alignment due to some milled slots.

Adjustment screw: I am not a fan of drilling holes in outer barrels, especially really expensive, hard to come by, outer barrels. The screw has a hex key opening on the bottom for those like me that do not want to drill holes. The screw itself has a flat head slot on top for your TDC. Not sure I like this.

INITIAL PRE-INSTALLATION THOUGHTS: I think this is basically the AA chamber v2.0. Is this an AA killer!?!?! No, if you have an AA already then this will not do much for you and not worth the $73 (what it cost me) it costs to get it. Though if you need a new chamber, then that is a different story. Once I get it installed and get some trigger time with it, I will update it.

================================

So I have the chamber assembled. Images can be found here. https://imgur.com/a/YmG4dWy

Bucking Fit: With the archwick bucking, its a smooth install. With my autobot, LOL, its really tight, to the point I pushed my PDI barrel completely threw the bucking.... So be warned.

Window Size: Its massive compared to the AA.

I do not like the screw. It can easily be loosened and fall out of the thread area that is in the chamber body. Thus requiring you to disassemble to set it back. (or you get really lucky) Unlike on the AA where it is retained.

=======================

After Action Report: I am pleasantly surprised overall with this chamber. From my AA, Macaron Autobot 70, and ML concave nub, 3.03J w/.40g, to the Archwick set at 2.9J w/.40g. May have lost a hair of power, but still VERY CAPABLE AND JUST AS GOOD AS THE PREVIOUS COMBO.

Overall this chamber is my new default chamber. While I lost the screw in the chamber resulting in a teardown of the rifle at the field, its not the end of the world. The hopup bucking is quite touchy, it will very easily overhop just about anything. Accuracy may have improved slightly as well, less flyers.

If you are building a rifle, and doing the hopup group. Cost to performance Archwick wins. Cheaper then the AA/ML combo. For me its a 3 dollar difference, but its a one stop shop, the other you may need to order from multiple vendors which increases costs.

I still firmly stick to my "If you already own an AA chamber.." statement. But if you are looking to upgrade from stock. This is it.

I am going to play around with the buckings I have here and see what fits and what wont.

The archwick bucking has a chunk missing from it at the front tip of the contact patch. This could be from the bucking being soft (its almost identical in hardness to the ML 60.), from the stupid barrel window on the PDI barrel I have, from the power of my rifle, or some combination of the above. Though it has not effected accuracy or range.

I did contact Archwick and they sent me 5 extra buckings. So far there CS is on the ball.

TL:DR Chamber is good, and so is the included bucking. Buy it.
You can get the chamber here: https://www.wgcshop.com/products/arc...10-hop-up-unit

Bucking Fitment

ML 2021 Aotubot 60: fits. slightly loose easy push.
ML Macaron Aotubot 60: tight, light lube required. (Strange anomaly with the 2 I have barrel lips do not seat in barrel groove.)
ML Macaron Aotubot 70: Tight, lube required. (Same anomaly. Buckings were ordered at the same time. Could be a funky batch of buckings.)
Nineball: Snug, lube may or may not be required.

I will get some trigger time next weekend, way too windy this weekend to be useful.

Looks like I'll be passing on it. That's sad how it doesn't work well with maple leaf buckings

Out of curiosity, can you buy the bucking on its own. Might give it a try.

Hey, I've seen you put a inner barrel with a no bridge design on your photos. Does the same inner barrel with a bridge would work?

I'm asking because I have hard time finding a Lambda "one" inner barrel no bridge 430mm and there is a lot of inner barrel 430 6.01 but with bridge

Just file the bridge off, carefully of course

Yeah I try to avoid that. Maybe it works also with the bridge on so I want to know.
Also is it easy to remove the bridge? With a dremel?

It is easy to remove the bridge, but I left a link to a better suited barrel for your purposes on your other post.

If you are set on removing a bridge, use a file as it is more precise, and put it in a vise with wood on both jaws as to not damage the barrel

The archwick chamber itself will work with either a bridged or unbridged barrel. The included bucking will not work with bridged barrels. Though nothing stopping you from using a nineball or pdi w hold bucking.

I think the ML 2021 buckings work with bridged barrels. Though don't quote me on that as I have not verified that yet. (Or the fitment of ML buckings in said chamber. Past the initial try.)

SiliconeSword > I wanted a Lambda barrel but I think it is more trouble as I have other alternative with unbridged barrels. Thanks

Thanks!! That what I thought, worst case scenario I could use another bucking but I would really prefer to use what I've already have or something who works 100%
