An AWESOME ghillie suit (VIDEO)

Hey guys, i made this instructional video for you all and put it on my youtube channel. I came up with this method for camouflage along time ago when i was fed up with the problems that ghillie suits had. (ex... overheating, heavy weight, not easy to pack, hard to access gear, snagging on surrounding vegetation, even heavier when wet, cost to build, time to build, etc....) This method solves all those problems, and ever since I figured it out and tried it, I have never gone back to a ghillie. Don't get me wrong, ghillie suits have their place, but for what most of us do, i think most of you'll will like my method more.

But anyway, give it a watch, and a like! I Hope you guys find it as useful as i have. If your lazy and don't feel like making one of these yourself, I can make one for you and ship it to you. Just let me know!

Hmmm, I like this idea. As you said it could be very handy for making people not look for that kind of camo.

As Poltergeist said, very nice videos. They are well done and straight to the point.

Yea its a pretty simple idea, but it solves so many problems that I've struggled with when wearing ghillie suits over the years.

Just to add, the way I use to wrap it around my body isn't required, its just the best way I've found to cover your arms and shoulders without having it fall off and slide down your arms. Experiment with it though. If you can find a better method, I would love to try it, so share it.

Just make sure you attach the "ranger bands" onto the elastic strap before you get out to your game. They do take some time to situate them perfectly and in the right spots (shoulders, outline, neck area). But once they're set, then you just attach some weeds and your ready to go.

And desert you're right... you wouldn't believe how much it helps when no one is EXPECTING you to be sniping. I'm sure everyone here has experienced this, everyone taking a mental image of what your ghillie suits colors and shape are before you even step foot onto the field. With the ghillie strap, everyone thinks your going to be running around and an easy target, but little do they know you have a ghillie suit hidden in your back pocket.

That's pretty awesome, although I think it probably works best for the environment you're in, heavy vegetation and what not. Most of the fields in my city are a mix of vegetation and open field so I'm a little skeptical of its abilities in that situation, that said its dirt cheap and I've already got an old inner tube so I've got nothing to lose by trying it. How long do you reckon it takes to get "vegged" up in the field? 15 minutes?

Just like you said, it depends on the environment. If your in thick brush, you can be ready to go in under 5 minutes because you can use bigger leaves and less vegetation. The best thing you can do is get yourself quality camo for every environment and every time of year. (I use Multicam all season, and if I play in the winter, I use a modified German winter poncho).

Speed of "vegging" up depends on the time of year too because of course that changes the environment. If its fall, you will need to insert more dead leaves from the ground thus taking you a tad longer. I would say about 15 mins in the fall. But it all depends on how picky you want to be. As long as you cover the main points of importance well (shoulders, head, rifle, neck) then you should blend in pretty well. Most of the time, if there's anyone near you that's a threat, you will already be aiming at them as we should be spotting them before they spot us anyway.

I found the best way to speed things up is to not be picky, and carry a small knife or garden sheers on your vest. With this, I've been able to "veg" up in under 5 minutes in prime conditions.

Also, I don't think you need to be as picky as you would with a ghillie because no one knows your sniping. As long as you sit still when they are looking in your direction, use the basic rules of concealment (no silhouetting, etc), and cover the points of most importance (your outline when aiming in their direction and your rifle), then most people will have a very hard time spotting you.

I find that different size inner tubes help too. Road bike tires are going to be a smaller diameter than bmx, or mtn bike tires and will hold grasses and leaves better. So in your case, you might want to take that into consideration.
