Question Paint removal?

Hey everyone, before I go off and paint my rifle, I wanted to know if it was possible to paint a rifle, then remove the paint-job when it is no longer needed (without damage to the original paint/rifle).

In order for paint to properly adhere to most surfaces a little light sanding is required, thus the original finish would suffer. Removing paint from a firearm requires either chemicals, sanding, or both & would remove & damage any factory finish underneath.

Your easiest & best option for adding camo while preserving your guns original finish would be to use a shrink wrap camo kit that you can simply apply it with a hair dryer. The wrap is removable & would help preserve the original finish on your rifle underneath it.

You could just use camo tape like the Royal Marine Commando snipers use and paint over that. Then you can protect the original surface.

Would this serve as a good base for the paint?

I'm going to steal that idea....I'd never thought of trying that.

Plus I'm extremely terrible at painting, this allows a fresh canvas every time I make my rifle look like a rifle-shaped pile of poo!
