KJW M700 - yea or nah

I was thinking about getting a GBB sniper rifle. The KJW M700 caught my eye. But I've read some things about inconsistency. I don't wanna spend too much on upgrades either. Just put in an R-hopped PDI barrel, and maybe a high flow valve if that's possible for rifles.

I've read it shoots stock 500fps with green gas. How much would I get with black gas at 30 degrees celsius?

Is it really so inconsistent? Are there easy upgrades to fix it? If it's too much effort I'd rather get something else.

Thanks

Lots of effort, get something else. VSR + HPA.

Might I suggest a VFC M40A5 + maple leaf crazy jet + maple leaf autobot?

I can vouch for the VFC M40a5 i need to do a review on it! It's amazing as far as gas efficiency(45 shots on one fill). The only issue i'm having is it's heavy, even on propane(which is what i run it on) it's very consistent for a propane/greengas gun.

Whalesmash do you own a vfc(asg) m40a5? I'm pretty sure you own a KJW/tannaka or two? Possibly I'm confusing you with wolf? If you have both rifles my question is, will the asg m40a5 fit into the kjw/tannaka stock? If i need to re-drill holes for the hardware that is fine, I'm just concerned if the spacer between the mag chassis and the receiver is adequate enough? Would be really nice if it was drop in on the spacer so the actually hammer assembly would hit the mag's valve solid. Anywho thank you for your time.

While I love the M700 look and feel, the KJW (and Tanaka, and all other clones) have 2 big problems:
1) They are really inconsistent unless tapped for HPA / regulated CO2
2) Their hop chambers are far from the best, and not even aftermarket chambers really fix that.

I would recommend the ASG / VFC M40A5 instead. They have adjustable FPS, are extremely consistent (almost springer-like) and have great hop ups, which get to unbelieavably good performance with just a Maple Leaf Autobot bucking and Maple Leaf barrel.

I think you have me mixed up with another person on here. I've only had my hands on one of those M40A5's for a week in passing as I held onto it for a buddy who was moving around. As for the M700, the one that I owned was prolific with issues and I got rid of it pretty quick. I have no experience fitting either platform into another gun...

Which also means once I purchase one I’ll be checking for cross compatibility between the two stocks. The asg m40a5 is a beautiful gun but my god that stock is so heavy!

The vfc M700 is a really great rifle IF and only If you are willing to use a regulated set up. So far in mine (its a a take down version, i know, i know, it was free from a buddy) i have a 6.01 action army inner barrel that is 550mm long, a 9ball bucking that has been teflon taped around the front for air seal, a angel custom concave hop up spacer, the bolt has had everything tightened and lockitied down as much as i can as well as the g&g striker spring, I'm also using the action army c02 mags and it seems to be doing just fine for my needs.

I don't remember who said it but there is a quote that comes to mind every time i pull the thing apart

"The KJW M700 is like the VSR10 popular, not because its good but because its cheap"
If anyone can add suggestions to what i should do to improve my rifle or who said the quote please let me know.

New hop up unit by action army is boss! Anyone with m700 knowledge know if the king arms mags have the same style cylinders as the action army mags?
