Just another Tanaka M40A1 project (need some answers to parts)
Hello everyone!
I am rather new to sniping in airsoft and got myself a used Tanaka M40A1 initially just to plink in the backyard. well the sniper fewer hit me and now I want to get the gun ready for actual games. My Tanaka was as previously mentioned a used one that I bought for a really good deal, the previous owner installed a CNC hopup chamber to replace the plastic one and he also added the red G&G rubbers, a second 10 round magazine came as well with it. all that for 300€ overall this M40 shoots rather well, apart from not being able to hop BBs heavier than .33g weight (my normal BB weight for my WE Colt 723 GBBR clone) so this needs to change! I plan on getting the Action Army Hopup chamber set to convert to VSR-10 rubber and barrel so I am able to hop 0.4g BBs that I plan on using. but with this set I have some questions: How long does the inner barrel need to be when using the AA chamber? I have read figures all over the place, from 630mm down to 500mm maybe someone here can enlighten me of what lenght is needed, and what inner barrels are actually worth looking into and compatible with the AA chamber set. Here a picture of how my rifle looks as of now, the paintjob was made by me last weekend and I REALLY like how it turned out. ![]() I hope you guys can help me out and happy shooting! |

The action army chamber is an excellent option as it will allow you to use VSR bucking and barrels.
A standard length for tanaka barrels is 630 I believe, however as there is no cylinder volume to match the barrel length to as there is with a VSR, you can basically run whatever barrel you like. Check out this link to see some info on the AA chamber: https://youtu.be/oMMAK3WkL98 hope this helps |

I will say,
if you are planning on keeping the original outer barrel length, and don't want to mess about cutting it down or making custom barrel spacers. Then just buy any barrel labeled as kjw700 compatible should be perfect👍🏻 |
