Are you sure you are talking about the sorbo on the back of the hop up chamber?
How should this increase airseal?
There is airseal between the nozzle/CH and hop up bucking.
There is no seal between the flat surface of the CH and the back of the hop up chamber.

It cannot help with the seal as air will still sneak out where the magazine is.

Doesn’t that require a longer nozzle?

I've been doing this mod for a while. It had no effect on my airseal. Buckings that sealed without the mod sealed with the mod, and buckings that didnt seal still don't. (Using a .7m thick sorbo)

Isn't that always the case?

No. With the Action Army chamber I get 100% seal. So no need for the rubber pad. I only use it to make the rifle quieter. (As well as it may help prolong the life of the cylinder)
