VSR-10's shortest feasible barrel?

Title says the bulk of it. I fully understand this will not the be the most efficient, most effective, longest-range, quietest, best-anything rifle.

The project I'm working on is for a sort of Mosin Nagant Obrez, with a barrel that I'm predicting will have an inner barrel in the realm of 200-250mm.

It is not supposed to be the best.

This rifle is supposed to fill a niche for me as a roleplayer at certain events. However, because it will still be skirmished, I just want to know if I can do anything to make it SLIGHTLY more effective than being absolute garbage.

And no, Amoeba/Ares/whatever Striker platforms are sadly out of the question due to personal preference, availability, and the mechanics of how I plan to make it look like a real Mosin Nagant.

You could have any barrel length technically. Look at the mk23, it outputs a high volume of gas, yet most people use 150mmish barrels. Use any barrel length you want. If you are using a shorter barrel you could use a sorbo and an airbrake to limit cylinder volume etc.
Basically, your rifle will perform less well and be less quiet, but it will still work and you could get a good rifle that is very accurate.

One of my guns has a 200mm inner barrel. Made my longest shots with that gun too. You'll be fine.

Was anything special done to accommodate the 200mm barrel? Aside from using an appropriate bb weight, and the basic tuning for compression- BlackDog's suggestion for limiting the cylinder volume is an idea I'll keep in mind.

Not really. Pretty sure I just have a regular PDI piston in there with no airbrake. Shoots 3.6j too with a majorly thick spring. No concern was put in for properly voluming the system or whatever, the consequence being the spring is probably thicker than "ideal" and it's loud as hell. Whatever though, still shoots good.

You can use any barrel length you want. If you choose to go extra short, you may want to port your cylinder. This will give time for the piston to speed up to a good speed before going into the compression area. So you can still get good fps/energy.

Given that this is supposed to be an Obrez sort of build, loud might actually end up being a good thing actually...

Thanks for the help, my friends.

I have a friend who made a sawed-off VSR. The outer barrel was literally cut flush with the forearm. lol
