Notable AEG Buckings/Barrels

I'm trying to compile a list of notable AEG buckings/barrels, which have some following or strong marketing claiming that they are amazing. I'm avoiding adding discontinued items (like the TK Twist) and strongly debunked items (wide bores, miracle barrel, hybrid barrel).

If you know about something that I'm missing, please let me know.

So far my list has:

Edgi 6.01
PDI 6.01
PDI Raven 6.01
Prometheus 6.03
Maple Leaf Crazy Jet Barrel
Poseidon Air Cushion Barrel
TNT (H)S+ Barrel

Maple Leaf Macaroon
Maple Leaf Super Macaroon
Maple Leaf Hot Shot
TNT TR Bucking
TRU-HOP bucking
Poseidon Bucking
PDI W-Hold Bucking
Krytac Bucking
Prometheus Purple Bucking
G&G Green Bucking
Lonex 70D

And the odd mix: Umbrella Armory's RHOP'd Prometheus barrel.

I have heard good things about the G&G green bucking and the Lonex 70D and have seen them used in a number of different builds. I suggest that you do a list on nubs too as a good bucking needs a good nub to give the best performance.

Those are both 'plain tm style' with the standard 'mound' and 'nub'. I've got some swimming around in the bin, but I don't think they're really in the community spotlight.

Still, I'll fish them out and if I've got time test then with the rest.

I don't think there's a lot of styles of nub going around. You've got MAXX, Maple Leaf, Skees, Panthera, TruHop, Modify flat, Prometheus flat, TNT flat (extra wide), shark, m-nubs, and the original style.

You can really split the nubs into three categories:
Concave
Flat
Original (+ shark)

Most of the buckings listed are explicitly meant to be used with either a concave or flat nub. PDI W Hold, Krytac, and Prometheus buckings are all meant to be used with the original style nub.

I don't think it'd be very practical to test every bucking on this list with every category of nub. I'll be honest when I say that I'm of the opinion that most buckings will benefit from a concave style nub, and that the MAXX one will probably make a good benchmark. Obviously a couple will need the original nub, but for the others I'll probably test them with the MAXX stuff first.

I'll probably test nubs eventually, but the nubs can be tested individually with whatever bucking I end up liking the most.

Anyways, I've got everything on the OP list on the way. I can't promise that I'll get around to writing up everything, but that's my goal right now.

some setups only work with the right nub, tnt buckings for instant perfrom bad in my expirience with concave nubs (specially the hard maxx nubs) and only start to shine with softer flat ones.

On behalf of the G&G green bucking, it's a fantastic candidate especially when doing an r hop. The air seal is fantastic and it's flexible enough not to influence the profile of the nub pushing through to the r hop patch. The Lonex 50 is also good for this application.

G&G greens are the best simplest AEG buckings, the secret to G&G guns OOTB performance.

Maple leaf stuff is the true evolution in buckings

Hey, what about ZCI Barrels? Stainless Steel, 6.02mm, and a very agreeable price! I had a rather long one (AEG cut) in my old L96 and it worked much better than the stock barrel.

Even if others have had less than stellar experiences, they're cheap enough to be good contenders for DIY polishing.

...As for G&G Greens, I have several that I use for drop-in upgrades over stock buckings, and I've had no complaints yet. Very squishy and great at gripping bb's.

I added the lonex bucking and g&g bucking to the list.

I’ll try the TNT bucking with both their flat nub and the MAXX nub. If the maxx nub performs better then I’ll probably use it for all of the ‘windowed’ buckings.

I’m not going to bother with ZCI barrels. Like the OP said, I’m looking for things that have some claim to ‘the best’, not liked-but-not-loved budget items.
