My VSS is overspinning - do I need a better mosfet?

In my VSS I have:

13:1 gears, 22TPA
High torque moto
Basic mosfet from brill armory
25-50c 11.1 lipo wired to deans.

Shooting about 390 FPS with a pretty insane RPS but....
I seem to be having feeding issues and I think it might be due to the fact that my mosfet doesn't stop my motor from spinning after I left off the trigger. Does this make sense/is this an issue with cheaper mosfets? Hoping that I can fix this without taking my gearbox apart lol

Your feeding can be caused by nozzle flop, bad bbs, bad mag etc...
But not the mosfet, nor the overspin.

You may need a sector delay chip.
Another cheap easy way of fixing it may be to put a few layers of duct tape on the front of the gearbox where the hopup goes into the gearbox. This will push the hopup out just that little bit more giving the air nozzle more space to travel. This is effectively like adding a sector delay chip but at the front of the gearbox. Though if you add too many layers of tape, you will lose fps. Adding a sector delay chip is your first choice and then layers of tape.

I tested with a bunch of different bbs and had the same result, although I have no idea what nozzle flop means. Tested with all my mags high and mid cap though.

As for the sector delay chip you mean this?:

Seems pretty easy.

Nozzle flop is when the nozzle is loose on the tube coming out of the cylinder head and can wobble a bit once extended. You have to check this with the nozzle in the forward position and not retracted. If there's too much play there the force of the mag spring and BB's can cause all kinds of goofiness in the hop unit. Regardless of hi cap or lo cap, if the nozzle is loose, things will go poorly.

More often than not though, the symptoms will be an erratic feed an inconsistent fps.

The sector chip is great idea especially on a high ROF gun. Even on a gun where the feed is touchy, just that little extra time the nozzle stays open is enough to make it work.

Personally I'm not a fan of delayer chips.
If the problem is there DSGs shouldn't even work. So the chip is Band-Aid, not cure.
