Thumbs Up VFC M40A5 (ASG): Best thing ever.

Hey guys,

Just played my first game with a VFC M40A5. It belongs to a friend, whom bought and upgraded it as my recommendations.

First thing to say is: My mind if absolutely, totally blown by the consistency. Here are the chrono results (local limit: 600FPS):

586.2
586.2
584.7
586.0
587.4
586.2

That was on green gas. A really, really awful brand of green gas and KSC's .20g bbs. Temperature was 26C. As for the upgrades, it's only rocking a Maple Leaf inner barrel and Maple Leaf Autobot 75 bucking.

Seriously. That's thing has better consistency on regular green gas than my HPA tapped KJW M700 and all of the spring-powered BASR. Everyone around was contemplating like if seeing an alien talking.

I still cannot believe it. We double.checked after the game, 8 hours later, and it was still shooting 586 +/-1 or so, with 586.2 being the magic number.

I was told it was not that consistent out of the box, but after some hundred rounds of wear-in the results speak for themselves.

Build quality is on a whole other league. It feels extremely solid and robust (also, quite heavy). The bolt wobble when open is minimal compared to the M700. Magazines are heavy and really solid too, and firmly click into place without any wobble at all. I don't see anything getting broken anytime soon.

Bolt pull is smooth and easy, can be operated extremely fast.

Output velocity is easily adjusted by a wheel bellow the bolt (has a grub screw to prevent it from moving around / cheating), from 400 to 660FPS.

After the game we took some hours to really calibrate the hop and scope, and we were able to hit a man-sized target (well, an actual person to be honest) 90m away every single time. And we were using freaking WE's white-ish .43g bbs, nothing special

All I have to say is: I recommend it to everyone, and cannot wait for mine to finally arrive. This is the best gun ever (to me at least)

It would be great if you could update this thread when yours finally arrives, just to make sure this performance is consistent across all pieces, and that your friend didn't just win some sort of a 'piece lottery'. Do you think you could make a video chronoing it as well? I'm not doubting your trustworthyness, but as you said yourself, it is almost too good to believe.

Does the consistency deteriorate as you near depleting the Green Gas reserves from the mag? If so, how many rounds do you reckon you can get out of it before it does?

If what you say is true, my wallet sure as hell won't be happy to hear the news.

It shoots great from the second round to the one before the last. Didn't make an actual gas mileage test, but it sure carried more than enough to shoot 2 charges of bbs with each charge of gas; that's about 30 rounds.

I know, I should have taken a more "scientific" route before making these claims, but I was too busy having my mind blown :p

I'll try to make a video next time we use it, but in the meantime, here's one from some dude in China, showing the same consistency. It was this video that drove me to recommend the gun in the first place.
