Vfc sr25 ecc gbbr

Just found out there is a new SR25 GBB from VFC on the market. Always wanted a DMR, what do you think?

I could make it shoot 500-550. I would need at least 5 mags though to make it skirmishable. Pretty expensive setup.

Aaaaand I'm turned on.

I've always wanted an SR25/M110, and more than that I've always wanted a GBBR. My buddy used to have an HK G28 GBBR, but the rifle, bipod, optic, and foregrip had it weighing 6kg, a bit too much to lug around without having the effective range.

Some fields are starting to require DMR's to be a designated 7.62mm class rifle, and turning people away who slapped in a tightbore barrel, upgraded spring, and threw an optic onto their M4 or AK. I can't really blame them for doing this, me and my buddy were among the ones that did it before we were really disciplined in doing more fine-tuned upgrades to our rifles. TBB? Check. Upgraded spring? Check. Optic? Check. 450FPS? Check.

The only thing that irks me on the VFC is the 20 round magazine - gotta make those shots count, I guess. $50 per magazine, 5 magazines plus the rifle at $750 is pretty expensive. I'd probably look into getting the MASS stock from Mancraft and tapping the mags, or something similar.

...Guess I know what I'm buying when I get home.

I run primarily a GBB DMR (WE SVD) and have been fine tuning GBBRs for a long, long time. I know a GBB DMR is feasible, and it doesn't require a ghostbusters HPA setup to get there.

VFC has a reputation for building some of the worst GBBRs out there, exactly the opposite of skirmishable. They look great, but hardly work at all.

That being said, they're really stepping up their game lately, and their 416A5 (released last year) finally delivered a gun that really can perform... After a recall for a massive hop adjustment design failure, that is.

Anyway, I don't mean to fear you out of it, this is probably the first VFC GBBR that I would really consider skirmish ready. It has all the reinforcements in the right places, great compression on the nozzle to bolt carrier seal (which is the most important part of any GBBR), strong recoil and a convenient hop adjustment system. So they learned from their past mistakes. My point was that in GBBRs is generally not recommended to buy from the first production batch, as manufacturers have the awful habit of using their paying customers as beta testers -_- but I would feel safe-ish with this one.

To make it perform as a DMR should, best thing you can do is use a Maple Leaf bucking and barrel. Bucking should be an Autobot (or a Wonder if the chamber lacks the side alignment groove as in other VFC designs), inner I would suggest the Crazy Jet of course.
There's not much more to it really. Use dry gas (propane for summer, Map Pro for winter) to avoid getting silicone into your bucking and barrel, and it will shoot great.
Avoid any aftermarket bs, 99% of GBBR "upgrades" are actually detrimental and the cause for poor performance and constant breakages (specially RA-Tech, Poseidon and Angry Gun crap). Use the OEM parts and if ever something breaks on you, contact VFC for an OEM spare.

If you see any wobble between the magazine and the mag well, shim it with some tape, as otherwise it causes leak between the mag output and the nozzle input, therefore higher cooldown and gas consumption, which leads to inconsistency, affecting the accuracy and max range.
For most GBBRs out there I would suggest getting an X-ring to replace the O-ring between the nozzle and bolt carrier, but this one seems to seal perfectly as is.

As for the dreaded GBBR maintenance, all you need to do is lube that oring with a tiny drop of light silicone oil about once a month. That's pretty much it.
The metal to metal friction points can be lubed with silicone grease or lithium grease about twice a year.
And clean your bucking and barrel regularly. GBBRs are somewhat more open systems than AEGs, so they can get dirtier barrels quicker.

*ignores literally everything else*

SO IT'S A MUST-BUY!
That's good to know though. My buddy couldn't necessarily get his G28 working right, we'd take it out to the local field and he'd miss the first skirmish while he continued to get set up, I'd come back after it was over and next thing you know he's got his backup gun out. He could never really get it working just right, so it did make me a bit hesitant knowing it's from VFC. It's a little better knowing that they've gotten better over the years

That’s what I thought, this one should be skirmishable. I own vfc mp5 from the first batch, it took me 2 years to make it skirmishable by replacing everything in there (and doubling its initial cost) but now it shoots like crazy. Coming back to sr25, I’m looking into importing one for the spring season.
