Maple leaf hot shot inconsistent

Hi all,

I bought a Crazy Jet GBB barrel, Hot Shot 60 bucking and Maxxmodel TE hopup chamber to try a new setup. Ive read very good things about this setup and wanted to try this in my Polarstar.
After putting everything together and trying it out in my garden, the hopup effect was very inconsistent. Bbs would overhop for 2 shots and then underhop for 2 shots. Ive tried a different hopup chamber (Prowin) and it was even worse. The bbs fly super straight when aiming at a tree, but the hopup is very inconsistent.
With my normal flat hop setups (G&G green + namazu nub), both hopup units work perfectly fine.

Did anyone experience the same? There is very little info about this barrel/bucking combo in AEGs, but what I read is all positive.

Im shooting 350fps with 0.20g bbs and used 0.30g Green Devil bbs for my tests.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Yes, I forgot to mention that. I tried the concave Maple leaf nub and the concave Maxx model nub.

Check the hop for proper alignment and function while outside the gun. Try shooting some other bb brand, sometimes different bbs work best in different setups.
Maybe try a harder / softer bucking, depending on the temperature. I like harder buckings, so I'd go with 70.

Also, if your polarstar can be switched between open bolt and closed bolt, make sure to use the latter.

I have also tried Xtreme Precision 0.30g and it was the same. Green Devil are one of the best and most consistent bbs that are available over here.

I've checked the barrel group and everything was looking fine and aligned. I will rebuild it again and try in my AEG as well.

I don't have the 70 bucking. Before spending more money on this setup, I would to like to see some decent results out of the 60 bucking. Right now bbs go 2m up or down at 30m (100feet), so that's really bad.
Or maybe I have a lemon?

I'm always shooting in closed bolt on my polarstar. This is the most consistent setting for me :-)

Well, I don't think it's QC related, and not even hardness related really.

I believe it's either some movement on your barrel, or maybe the nozzle is not pushing the bb to the same starting position every time. That's why I asked if you were shooting from closed bolt.

Other than that, it might just need some wear-in.

I gave it an other try. Someone on the Polarstar airsoft FB group suggested me to telfon tape the bucking lips.
I added 5 layers of telfon tape to the bucking lips and the bb stays on the bucking now and needs very little force to be pushed inside the bucking.
And the bucking sits very loose in my hopup unit, so I'll add some telfon to the front as well.
I tried again in my Prowin with a maple leaf nub and it seems a bit better, but not perfect yet.

At 40m, my vertical spread it about 2m. It was about 4-5m before I telfon tape the bucking lips.

Not sure if this will be better when worn in.

I have 4cm spread at 30 meters, Crazy Jet 455 and Hotshot 70, shooting 0.45 in a DMR setup. Reaper in a Krytac MK2 SPR.

I know this is a necro post but for posterity information Im posting it anyhow.
Yeah using heavier bbs with a 60 deg bucking is what you want. 50-60 deg buckings are generally used to hop heavier bbs .40+ the 70 degree would be better for your application.
i use maple leaf hop rubbers in ALL of my rifles and some of my pistols (including my GBBs) and i have nothing but great experiences using the proper rubber.
