Question What Length Prometheus barrel should I get for a type96?

Hello, I've been running my Type96 at 2.5 joules or 367fps (Field limit) with a .4, a 509mm madbull v.2 barrel and a AA type96 cylinder, piston and chamber with a mapleleaf 70%bucking.

But I find myself wanting too get a shorter barrel from Prometheus to use the cylinder too barrel ratio to a better effect and use heavier bb's like .43's and maybe .45's. Ive seen people say 400mm up to 455mm so what Prometheus barrel do ya'll think would be good for my setup? thanks!

I assume your current madbull is an aeg barrel. What chamber are you using to accommodate an aeg barrel? What bucking?

I have a Action army chamber and a mapleleaf 70% bucking.

Honestly, for 367 fps (2.5j), you're probably better off with what you have. What kind of range and accuracy are you getting?

I’m getting about 240+ feet and it is consistent. but As I said in the post above I’d like too use a heavier bb and get a better quality barrel too. Preferably Prometheus. I’m just not sure if I should get a 400mm or 455 or something in between.

Y'know, with that kind of jam behind the BB, you might just be too hot for a .4g. I shoot .4's in my L96 but I'm just a hair over 2j. Before you do too much, have you tried a .43 or even the .45? That might be all you need to do. I would try it just as it is (with the heavier ammo), so at least you'll get a reference point to work off of.

If you do go for a 0.43gm, then I would most likely use a 470mm inner barrel.

I haven’t shot a .43 Yet but I plan on getting some in the next couple days. Thanks for the advice! It will be a while before I’ll get too test though. my local field won’t have a game for a couple weeks.

2.5 joules should just be enough to shoot a 0.43gm good. If you can get a little more energy it would be better but it should still shoot the 0.43gm to long distances.

This is my recommended bb weights for each fps (using 0.2gm) in an energy efficient setup.

330-370fps = 0.25gm-0.30gm
370-420fps = 0.30gm-0.32gm
420-450fps = 0.32gm-0.36gm
450-500fps = 0.36gm-0.40gm
500-540fps = 0.40gm-0.45gm
540fps upwards = 0.48gm+

About Prommy barrels:
did any of you had an issue with Prometheus, that some of them has satin - not mirror polish inside?
Thats been a heavy topic in Poland everybody and lot of people had Prometeus barrels that have raw inside.
Some says that is a huge lack of quality, but some people says that has no effect on performance.

Actually, its entirely possible they got some counterfeit Prommy barrels. PDI is also suffering the same problem with some of their parts as well. Depending on where they ordered from that is.

But this is from normaln\ legal store, genuine Lay Lax barrel.
Do you thint this can be a replica or fake prommy?

some tech guy who work in a airsoft store says, that Prometeus/pdi caress less about europen buyers and they give us 2nd grade products, while best 1st grade quality goes on asia market.
