Hello!
I am thinking about buying a upgraded Cyma M14 SOCOM and I would like your opinion of weather or not this would be a good DMR.

This is the seller's exact description of the gun.

"-Shoots ~550 FPS with .20’s and has great accuracy with the .30’s that I use with it. Awesome to use as a DMR right now, or use as a great base for a top of the line DMR. There's not a single scratch or dent on this gun, and the bolt functions beautifully. The threads on the gun are in great shape too, so you could put a silencer or something on here with no problems.
Parts in it: G&G High Torque Motor , Metal V3 spring guide, Guarder SP150 Spring, Azimuth Blue Piston, Prometheus cylinder head, Prometheus air nozzle, G&P Shims, white lithium grease, wired to deans, and I’m decently positive that there is a Systema Bucking/SCS Nub combo in there.
Barely used. From what I remember, this thing is very accurate. Needs some everyday tuning up, as its been sitting for quite a while in my gun rack, so it’s being sold as-is. Comes with 2 hi-cap magazines and 1 midcap.
IIRC, I easily put over $300 into this gun."

The seller told me that he was getting a man sized spread at 260ft and I believe him because he has sold many items and has great feedback.
It sounds great but I have heard some negative things about m14's.

From what I have heard m14's seem to be very hard to disassemble.
Does anyone have any experience with m14's and how hard are they to actually disassemble fully? Could someone that has experience with m14's give me your personal opinion of this gun as a DMR?
Also he said that the threads were in great shape but I thought the SOCOM version didn't have threads?

If someone could answer some of these questions and give me advice that would be amazing!
Thanks!

I have a TM m14 as dmr and I love it.
About the cyma m14, the socom version doesn't come with a treaded outer barrel but it could be a new outer barrel.
The bolt is crap, personal exp and many reviews and friends. You can slap the bolt once and it will break, it will work fine but just slide it back in position.

To be honest, I hate to disassemble a m4 and prefer the m14. The gearbox is much easier because several parts are on the outside of the shell. It will cost more time to do it.

I wouldn't want any other gun, it looks amazing, feels good, has a great hop up unit.
Hope this helps a bit ;)

Thank you for your opinion! That does help, however I still want other peoples advice.

I agree with everything Nightwolf has said. I love a good V7 over any V2 or V3. They are different to work on, but there is nothing impossible about them (just be careful of all the springs).

The only thing about that particular gun you are buying is that big spring. I don't know if a stock V7 can handle an SP150 for very long. Anyone have any opinions on this?

I have an M14 that is a DMR (I'm selling it btw). I've had one issue with the gearbox after it was upgraded but it was easily fix. What everyone else has said I completely agree with. The only reason I'm selling mine is because I want something different.

I would think either the piston or the gears will give out soon. If I got that rifle I would put an M130 into it, V7 gears shouldn't have any problem with that. I know the Cyma M14 can be kinda picky about air nozzles, but I think the prometheus one would be ok. (I assume he used the metal bushings that come with it) Another thing I see lacking is a nice cylinder head, It might be worth either teflon taping the stock one or picking up a new one. The last thing I might ask the guy is if he has corrected AOE. He probably has done it, but it might be worth checking out. I think that's it...

Lol sorry about that, my vpd is at it again. As for the air nozzle, I just wanted to make sure that the seller got it to feed flawlessly. I have seen too many M14 users baffled by their rifle not feeding. I mentioned the piston because of the power of an SP150. Even though it is considered an "upgrade part" it can still fail with that kind of power behind it.

Sorry about that, I didn't see the cylinder head

Yeah, If its a good price I would probably pick it up :) 260 ft is fantastic range with the setup he has now. I wouldn't be surprised if he polished the barrel a little. You could probably only be accurate for about 200- 225 ft though. However that's just a guess... with everything he has done to it and some tweaking I think it will be a pretty awesome dmr!

If I were you, I'd but the Cyma Mk.14 Mod 1 (M14 EBR) and change the stock down the road if you want.
It's not only Cymas newest M14, but it is also their highest quality one.
