I'm working on ghillie suit right now and I'm using DCU as foundation.
I live in woodland area so I will need to make it darker as well.
Going to use some krylon :)
Hair dye? My wife said you are crazy.

I get that all the time from my misses too :lmao:

But if it works don't knock it. Other option would be to use acid dyes or polyester dye, but that requires boiling the fabric and as you can guess I'm not planning on untying that jute anytime soon.

3 color desert is just way too light pattern with that dark garnish, it created all kinds of contrasting.

About Krylon, it won't stick to fabrics that well. Definitely wears off in use (especially if you wash the fabric) and another nasty side effect is that it seals the fabric up making it less breathable.

If you don't want a solid color just make a stronger than usual dye mix, put it in a spray bottle and squirt over the lighter tones you want altered, let dry, wash, let dry again, see if it did the trick and repeat the process if a darker tone is needed (or do what I did and use brown hair dye >:D).

Since I'm using OD cordura for reinforcement, I resolved half of the problem.
At least I dont need to make cordura darker.

Been building my own ghillie recently, more for woodland play. Still working on the jacket, haven't yet begun on the pants. If it looks a little bulky, it's because it's resting on a fan. Kinda hard to go outside and snap pics of my suit when I live in the city.

Best part, I integrated a tactical tailor mini mav into the front. 100% removable, and I can do a full write up if there is enough interest. The whole integration took less than $20 in materials, excluding the rig.

Goggle credits go to Geist. Sorry for taking them.
Haha, kinda late post, but it's fine man xD I bought my brother a new pair so you can keep them.

Also, I can go to say that Poltergeist's suit worked amazing in the NC forests. I couldn't see the guy until he moved mid-game and even then I lost track of where he was

So I had to take photos of stuff for my photography class. I decided, I'll take pics of me in my ghillie. So I present:

Stalking:

(Yes I know there's a bald spot, I didn't take the time to veg).

Close-ups:

Great pic :) I too agree that some veg would'a been good to have but sense you needed to be seen for the class it looks pretty friggin' sweet.

Nice! Im curious as to why you used a desert marpat base in an area so green?
To be honest, it was all I could find. I got it for free though (from a Navy Corpsman). :yup:

I was originally going to cover the front with canvas, but ended up deciding against it; after a good mud/dirt crawl, it's more of a brown than tan.

Fair enough. Looks good though :)
