get the 9mm OD. That way you can sand the outside to fit your barrel OD instead of it being slightly too small.

So how are you guys cutting the longer pieces straight and even? I can get it pretty great with normal lengths, but not with the extended length (12mm).
Just cut a 14mm circular piece off, leave it in a circle and stand it up like a pillar. Then cut down on the edge. You should be able to get 2 patches about out one circular puce of tube.

If you contact-cement some sandpaper onto a piece of granite/glass/mdf you can sand the patch in a figure 8 pattern to get the legs flat. It must be a figure 8 though to avoid over sanding any particular side.

I'm getting into this game aswell, just ordered some labratory grade silicone, 6/9mm to bad I found some cheaper alternatives later, anyone ever thought of just drilling 9mm holes in wood or something and then using a saw to make a straight cut for the razor?

1 tonne, have got some tube similar to those. The clear one is 60deg shore hardness so it is quite soft and over hopped .2-.4s. The blue one is 75 deg shore hardness and feels more like the clear blue r-hop patches, initial tests also over hopped all bb's but I didn't have time to sand it properly.

I think it is the hardness that's important something around 75 -80 sands quite nicely. The 60 deg tends to roll/rip and clog the paper.

Hopefully re-test the blue one tomorrow.

Plead read the forums rules, and make an introduction post :)

So i got some silicone tubing.. But cutting the partch is kind of a pain in the a**..
Does anyone have any ideas on how to cut it straigth?
First you cut off an 1/2" circular piece. Then you set it on its flat bottom. Next you take a sharp box cutter and cut DOWN. Once you get good you can make 3 patches for that one piece.

I've tried that.. But it doesn't seem to get straigth enough..
Well that how I do it, also you need to lol at the side to are cutting. And don't think after you cut it off the main tubing, it's good. You gotta cut more off for of it to fit your barrel, then sand it.

Here's an idea for cutting the tubing, if someone is willing to experiment and modify the concept to work with long lengths of tubing. I'm thinking of somehow having the tubing lay down sideways and having it pushed into the blade, like a log splitter.

I've got a LOT of projects on my plate at the moment and don't have the time to tinker with an r-hop cutting machine.

I can not remember if this one has been listed, but for the guys Outside the States:
CLEAR SILICONE Tubing Hose Pipe Pond Aquarium Fish Tank Air Pump FDA Marine Tube | eBay

Get the 5mm ID / 9mm OD and you only need to adjust the OD of the tube. First time trying the R-hop and I'm very impressed.

Tip for adjusting the OD:
Get an old barrel, a bolt and some pvc tape.
Wrap the bolt with pvc tape, so it fits nice and snug inside the barrel.
Stick the bolt in the barrel where the hop window is. Now you don't need to worry if you are pressing the material to much. Keeps it in place.
Just my two cents.

Never tried the "real" R-hop material, so I do not know the difference of the two materials and workings.
I just know that my aeg (75ms with .25g) has a nice straight line and can hit targets at approx 40m (130ft).
6 x 9 mm Idxod Silicone Translucent Rubber Tube Pipe Hose Beer Water Air Pump | eBay

I don't know how good this will work but I ordered 1m of it. At $4.50 + free shipping it comes out to 3.60 euros. maybe a better deal for outside the US. I'll let everyone know how it turns out when I get it.

And I do the same but I use the shank of a 6mm drill bit and PVC tape.

Now that this thread has been brought up again. I bought silicone tubing from eBay, linked somewhere previously in the thread. I bought the 6 mm ID, 9 mm OD version. Now I have used it to R-hop one of my rifles. To be honest, the amount of sanding is a bit ridiculous, even if you use a rotary tool.

So, to the question. Have any of you used the one with 8 mm OD and instead of sanding perhaps filled the space between the patch and bucking with something, like electrical tape? It would be so much easier to just cut it to size and add some tape compared to the sanding that is required at the moment. I might try this myself in the future if no one already have.
