STEP-II for SR-25 M110K2 DMR mods- help needed

After reading a lot about airsoft guns and doing my homework at the range and at the field, I now feel am ready to buy a not so expensive gun and try to upgrade the hell out of it, for DMR use.

Object is to get as much range and accuracy as possible with 450 fps @ 0.20 gr

I figured out a good way to go about it would be to buy a reasonably priced A&K SR-25K. And then I found a site in poland where they sell them rebranded as PJ SR-25 with the following internal upgrades, already done, as listed below:

* M130 spring
* Chrome bore-up cylinder
* Reinforced metal cylinder head(bore up type matched for the silent system)
* Reinforced silent type piston head with Ball Bearings( bearings help with smoothly rotating the spring)
* Hi-torque motor
* All steel Sears are placed In steel bushings 6mm
* Spring guide is standard-metal reinforced with Ball Bearing so the spring will rotate smoothly
* Low resistance gearbox wiring
* * New Enhanced Hop-Up chamber compatible with GUARDER rubber and with other TM-standard Hop-Up rubbers.

Its supposed to be a 440 fps gun

+++ The price they list is better than the one i can get from other European suppliers for a "normal" SR-25K.

Then I plan on getting a prowin chamber and an R-hopped EDGI 6.02 barrel with a prommy bucking from KoA (Sam Nuggat) in the UK.

Externaly I plan on getting an airsoft 14.5 inch URX4 handguard replica by Big Dragon and a 16 inch m4 barrel, to make it look like the bottom rifle below. (except the PMAG LR, cannot find them anyplace)

My question to you more experienced guys is this:

Αre there any holes in this plan? Should I upgrade some other things besides the barrel-hop up system to get what I want?

Ι don't want to break the bank, if possible, but I do want to go for as much range and accuracy as possible within the 450 FPS (@ 0.20 gr) limit

Thanks in advance for your help

George

Well I'll take a similar path soon!
I'm not an AEG guy .. You'll find the answers you seek.
A friend of mine has a PJ SR25 and it shoots around 420-430fps with decent consistency.

I'm guessing the "pre upgraded parts" aren't anything special
So you may want to consider replacing them with some nicer compression parts
A bore up in a sr25 doesn't do that much FYI
I'd look into getting new piston, piston head, airnozzle (one with o ring) possibly cylinder head and cylinder unless you plan to stick with the bore up set up
And a mosfet would be good as well

Personally in my sr25 I have
Shs cylinder
Shs airnozzle
Shs piston
Lonex piston head
Lonex cylinder head
And gets perfect compression

Also from what I have read it's not best to use a prowin with an r hop, better off using a standard style chamber like a Lonex chamber

Update:
Found link to some forum that has pics of the internals
Judge for yourself if you want to keep stock or replace

Thanks for your input Swift, will probably try the stock internals and see how it performs with a new r-hopped barrel, chamber and bucking.

Also thanks for listing the upgrades in your gun, good to know a nice working combination, in case i do upgrade the "as is" PJ internals,

That's a good thread you linked, google translate is my only option and it does not translate all too well, but I think I am catching the drift.:tup:

Seems that how they perform out of the box is a hit and miss affair and that there might be problems with the outer barrel too...

Also from what I have read it's not best to use a prowin with an r hop, better off using a standard style chamber like a Lonex chamber
The reason for this is that the shorter arm of the ProWin chamber increases the angle the nub pushes into the patch which provides uneven pressure across the patch. The longer the arm, the shallower the angle.

Thank you guys both, did not know this. My original thought was to get a ProWin but final decision will be taken by KoA anyway when we discuss the R-hopping of the barrel

For maximum range you'll need great compression. From my experiences, silent piston head/cylinder head sets tend to reduce compression, but they do relieve some stress off of the gearbox. You're better off getting a regular piston head and attaching a sorbo pad to the cylinder head if you wish your DMR to be quieter. You may want to look into a set of helical gears as well if you are looking to reduce noise.

Well, thanks for your input fellas,

As a first step, I decided on a budget upgrade ( Guarder chamber+inner 6.02 barrel+ new bucking), will see how the gun performs with the out of the box configuration and take it from there.

If it proves reliable @450 fps, I see in its future an R-hop and EDgi barrel or a good wide bore, plus shimming and compression changes.

Since this is an ongoing thing, will be happy to see any experiences/ ideas posted here and I will post my first impressions when i get it, about how well it performs.

Ok folks, continuing this thread as the first stage mods ( mostly the ones done by PJ on the A&K SR-25 re-branding) did not prove enough.

Gun shoots at around 430+ fps and effective range is around 160+ feet (50 meters)

Looking to get much past that, since lugging all this weight around and being inside the range of much lighter and burst capable AEGs is not worth the effort.

I own a Modify XTC G-1 Carbine with a simple eraser flat hop mod and it reaches out to 210+ feet with 0.30 Blaster devils being a 390 fps @0.20gr gun. And I mean accurate bursts!!

So I would like to reach out to more experienced members of the forum and ask them their opinion on internal mods that will give a 220-250 feet accurate reach, or maybe even longer.

Tight bore or large bore 450 mm barrel? What kind of hop up mod? R-Hop? and what would be the best way to go about the internals?

PS: Photo of the build with a Vortex 1-6x24 Strike Eagle and a replica Atlas bipod
