So there is a 3 day OP at Camp Shelby, Mississippi in the states in November... I wanted to see if any fellow snipers in the southern part of the states(or anywhere close by) would be interested in going and linking up while there? I think it would be awesome to find some fellow members on the forums to meet up with. A quick description is that it would be 500 total players(they are capping at 500) so 250v250 people on a 9 mile play area that is mixed woodland and urban play areas.

If you are interested in the event and would like to meet up, shoot me a pm and I'll gladly share the information I've found out. Hope to see/hear from y'all!

You will need to get a sniper ticket with Dagger or Fight company if you run green. The organized Louisiana teams already filled out Chaos Company, short of a couple riflemen spots.

BASR rules are 3.6j and they usually test with 0.25g. It?s a bio bb only event and 0.69g are approved for use.

I?ve played the AO a number of times and done TCA events at other locations. Bug me if you have questions.

Anyone thinking of going to this event and running green camo (Eastern Forces), there are only 30 tickets remaining according to TCA. Registration for Eastern closes on 10/18.

Western Forces (tan) are behind on numbers right now, so registration will remain open longer.

Well... I won't be going... Can not get the time off to go. Tis LAME! You guys have fun. Hopefully I can get some time off to attend some more ops again.

Sigh. Looks like I won't have time to go either! All this hype and I can't go. Not only I just figured out I'm severely undergeared for milsims(especially this caliber), but also personal issues are arising. I hope you guys have fun and shoot an extra person or two for me!

TCA recently announced Op Bone Strike in Vicksburg, MS for Feb 2-4. It will be held in a late-50's era hospital that has been closed for nearly 20 years.

As far as gearing up for a Milsim event goes, there is little that is an absolute requirement.

Required
- a matched set (top/bottom) of qualifying factional uniform
- adequate eye/face protection
- typically 2 bandages for others to medic you with
- a working gun/mag that qualifies for the role your ticket was purchased for
- a sidearm if you have an MED
- red dead rag (there is usually one in the bag they give at registration)

Highly recommended
- a two-way radio. It does not have to be programmable since most events base their primary channels on the standard numbered frequencies
- a backup gun (or two) since you never know when things will break
- some way to carry water

Everything else can be acquired over time but will not prevent you from getting out there and playing.

Long time away, but I love the sound of that setting! If we are playing indoors, I don't know how exactly snipers will play a role, but I do plan on picking up a boneyard M4 to toy around with.

Milsim events are typically announced 5-6mos in advance, with tickets going on sale 3-4mos in advance. Many of these events do sell out, with the specialist tickets (sniper, SAW) often selling out first. Planning early and purchasing quickly are usually a good idea.

At a venue like where Bone Strike will be held, I would anticipate many of the objectives to be outdoors or in detached/limited access buildings. The organizations who run Milsim games are keenly aware of how quickly CQB can go bad at 0MED events and tend not to put points of contention in locations where this is encouraged.

It is also fair to point out that staying effective when things get within your MED is exactly why I encourage not just carrying a sidearm, but something truly capable holding out for the duration. A 1911 and a few mags don't last very long inside and a SL/CO doesn't exactly check what's in your hands before shoving you in a door or in to the middle of a contested street. "They are too close and I'm out of pistol mags" isn't something other players like to hear either.

I agree with Corriander. SL/CO don't look at your gear when the heat is on. They just see riflemen everywhere, unless you are carrying the pig, then they are wondering why you are in the back with them and not up front putting the hate down.

When you pick the "sniper/dmr" role, all that really means is that you are able to pack a fancier weapon and your still a rifleman and you are expected to fill both roles at once. Pack a decent rifle with you, you will want and need it. (But that also depends on the Op and location.)

Oh and pack anti-fog wipes, and power munchies.

Pro-tips: don't bring aspiring youtubers with you... (I'll never live that down...)

Even if I am easily amused by a stupid silicone band, still better then your GPS. Damn thing was trying to get us killed. (and I at least gave jen a run for her money in Mario Kart.)
