I don't hate the SSG. It is a good stock rifle but not the best platform to make the best airsoft sniper rifle. That is the VSR. The title to this thread is "VSR-10 vs SSG24". Simple answer to that is if you don't want to spend a few hours getting to know how to be a better sniper technician and you want a rifle that will fire good when new, then get the SSG. You will however have to pull it apart after 3-4 months of regular play to relube the O-ring and then you would learn how to pull apart an airsoft sniper rifle any way. So you either learn when you first get a rifle or you learn a few months after. The advantage of doing it when you first get a rifle is that you can choose the specific items that you want to make it great. If you choose (and your club energy limits allow) you can to make a rifle that shoots further simply by getting parts that will propel a bb heavier than a 0.43gm bb.
I just don't like it when people think they have the best possible airsoft sniper rifle because it was marketed that way.
The SSG is good and I have been shot many a times by one since they have been on the market. But ask yourself, what makes a good sniper rifle.
Here is my list:
-Light (SSG is not)
-Accurate (SSG is but VSR can be better depending on ammo weight and parts)
-Comfortable (SSG is not great)
-Long Range (Both are good but 0.48gm will outdo an SSG)
-High ammo capacity (VSR has up to 55 rounds and mags are smaller)
-Quiet (Stick a Laylax Spring in a VSR10 and it will be quieter by far)

It would be great if someone could debate that the SSG is better in these areas.
Completly agree with you and I know a fully upgraded VSR-10 beats the SSG24 any time. I also never said it was the best sniper, it is the best sniper for beginners that don't want to upgrade their sniper.

You are making a bold statement here. I know alot of people who have issues with their VSR. Like I know alot of people who have problems with their SSG. Ofcourse your son would "suss it out". There are enough posts about problems that occur to a VSR. I never said they were not solvable at all. I like both platforms, I understand your statement. I just don't get it why you hate the SSG platform, anyways it is not my concern.
I really don't see how so many people have problems. Other than the ones that buy cheap parts. The VSR is a very simple platform and if you cant wrap your head around it then you shouldn't be touching the gun in the first place. Most of the problems i see are human error usually having to do with something super simple like installing the bucking correctly.

My friend bought a VSR-10 and had alot of problems with it. Now they are fixed ofcourse but it's just and example.

I have seen barrels installed upside down.... nubs installed wrong, buckings put in inside out. A v3 gearbox shoved into an M4. Wrong hopup units installed into the wrong gun, an AUG chamber in a p90....

Some people should not be allowed to work on airsoft guns. Dont get me started on the "Mods" I have seen that do jack diddly. One guy "modded" his m4 to take AK chambers.... You can image how "well" that worked out.....

I really wish I made those up...

One guy in my club holds his guns together with tape and rubber bands. He has done it for many years and is a very good player. His guns look crap but they work.

I understand that people in general are just plain stupid. I just don't understand how it happens. How do you go through life doing everything ass backwards and still function in society? its a great mystery.

There's a difference between that and putting an L96 piston in your VSR cylinder :hehe:

Well people can do some stuff wrong :p
I ain't no tech so I'm not saying i wouldn't do something wrong but i have seen some things.Since I last replied to this post I've played some games with a friend's VSR-10.
Pretty much has what 1tonne said but as far as I can say from my experience the performance wasn't so great...
So there's me thinking the parts are awesome so it must be installation problems
And indeed it was.So there goes the "trial and error" procedure.
What i also dont like is the bolt pull.Definitely isn't as easy as the SSG seems to be from the videos.Don't get me wrong im not trying to prove something to show one rifle is better from the other. If you read what i wrote above you'll understand my standpoint.

In the end it all comes down to each player.
Buy what suits you and what you really WANT!
Because that will satisfy you as a player and you won't regret it.

Cheers

Take my word for it, the bolt pull is the same as a VSR with a 13mm spring . Thats the trick that the SSG uses that no one talks about. Its also why the L96 rigs fell lighter also. The 13mm spring has always been the best solution to the heavy bolt pull.

Ok, this is the most entertaining thing I have read since the latest argument on the Nerf Wiki forum about clips and magazines!:lmao::pop:

But seriously, y'all should be ashamed of yourselves. There are 4 pages of very charged, very long:zzz: posts here, and beyond the first 3 or 4, none of them are very helpful. Ok, that's not strictly true. There's a lot of info here I've never heard. So that's cool. But regardless of what rifle is used, and what editing, the fact is that Nov has done well as a sniper both with the VSR and with the SSG, and his youtube channel is huge.

But if you hate Nov and his big head, then you just unsubscribe and go watch something else. I just saw a really cool vid from House Gamers Airsoft where the dude was doin' great with one of those 80 dollar ASG M40 thingies.

So I vote we either sticky this thread as the ultimate VSR vs SSG thread, or lock it.

This trash heap has burned on long enough to get the points across. This is locked as I see no real reason to see continued posting.
