Hello Folks, I was pondering over what to do with my rifle as I have stripped three holes in my VSR receiver (back hole, under the cylinder and the farthest forward rail hole) and came up with an idea: what if one was to take m3 nuts and permanently attach them to the outside of those holes? This would give the screw most likely over double the area to bite into, as well as a slightly more sturdy material as opposed to your typical pot metal or even some of the aluminum receivers made by PDI, Maple Leaf, AA and others. I am looking at getting a Maple Leaf Cerakoted receiver kit and was wondering if I could prolong its life by epoxying or welding a small stack of nuts to the bottom of the receivers over the current hole. So, what do you all think of that? It's becoming winter here in Minnesota and that makes it my off-season, which means it's time to tech!

Gluing on nuts may or may not work. You would be better off drilling and using a thread repair set. I have done it on one. You could also drill out the holes and tap them for larger more coarse threads. (This works better then just using the thread repair.) Or combine the 2.
