Hi guys. My new M700 came in today. This will be my first gas powered rifle, so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

First question, how do I release the gas from the mag? I filled it up to test it, but as expected, it didn't work. Now I need to release the gas from the mag to work on it (I can't just dry fire it because the strike plate is not currently working).

Second question. How do I replace the strike plate? I've already got a new strike plate ready, but how do I take out the old one?

Thanks.

Ah, right. I figured out the strike plate bit, got that in alright, but the gun's still not firing. I think it might be the striker spring. I've got a new striker spring, but am quite unsure of hoe to install it. Anyone know how or know a guide to its installation?

I'd heard it was bad fir the o-rings, but I figured it was necessary to work on the mag. Any word on installing a new striker spring? Surely someone knows...

Not sure if anyone is still reading this. I got the whole thing back together, but when I pull the trigger, I still only hear the click of the striker spring and a tiny amount of gas being released. Still no BBs being fired. Any help?

Re-built the bolt, still the same problem. It is definitely a bit harder over the last few mm though. It just sounds like not enough gas is being released from the gun...

Try finding the valve knocker inside the mag well with your finger and dry firing the gun. How far does it move, and with how much force? It doesn't take a whole lot of pressure, but if the knocker is barely moving your finger, then you have a problem. Chances are that the bolt striker is not contacting the knocker very well upon firing, so instead of imparting enough force to actuate the valve, the striker just slides on past. There is no easy way to fix this problem.

No, it never worked, with the stock spring or the KA one. But what's this about the cocking piece not catching the valve knocker? Could you explain that? Also, are the threads on the end of the striker spring guide supposed to be stripped? Because mine are...

Just noticed that when i depress the impact plate, the gas is being released from the rear, right behind the impact plate, not from the little brass ring on top of the mag. Is that normal?

I tried what you said, and it definitely hits my finger, but it only comes out 1, maybe 2 mm. How much should it be coming out?

EDIT: After taking the bolt out and pushing on the valve knocker from the place where the cocking piece strikes it, I can push it out a good bit farther with my finger than the cocking piece does.

I'd say that's your problem right there. Gas is supposed to come out of the brass nipple on top of the mag. If you are not getting any gas from the nipple, there is nothing to propel the BB. Have you tried a different mag?

The knocker should only move a couple mms, so that sounds alright.

I haven't got a different mag, unfortunately. Are any of the KJW mags compatible, or is there a way to fix the problem with mine? Like a missing seal or something?

I have an M700, and gas exits the back when I press the striker plate also. However, my gun works fine, and I think that the reason the gas goes out the back is because I'm not pressing it far enough in.

The problem might be the striker spring guide. The fact that the threads are stripped is not good. Did you loosen the allen screw on the bolt before messing with the spring guide?

Yeah, I remembered the allen screw, but I bought the gun used so I guess the guy before me forgot to. Should the spring guide be screwed in all the way or as little as possible? If it should be screwed in less, then this could well be my problem.
