hey guys! I know that there have been 1000000 BAR 10/VSR 10 threads, but none conforming to my needs....

Ive just bought myself a JG BAR 10 (with a 550mm inner barrel stock)-> came from the shop like this. click on Spezifikation and the inner barrel is Lauflänge Innen (mm) 550 mm...
AirSoftGun & Accessoires Online Shop | BAR-10 G | buy online in HQ

It is now time to upgrade this bad boy. Living in Austria, my online retailers are kept quite minimum (i.e. Airsoftgi etc are a no go)... there are a few that ship to Austria
airsoftatlanta.com charge approx. 30 US shipping
airsoftzone.at - Home free shipping
ehobbyasia.com approx 20US shipping...depending on the items

The regulations here in Austria state that the maximum FPS for BASR is 550FPS...nothing more. As i know that being shot with a 550fps sniper can hurt, I have decided to keep it slightly below. ~500-530 with .20g BBs, as i want it to be fair/fun for everyone on the field....no need for 600+FPS builds!

Can you guys help me with a BUDGET build? I dont want to go much over 200 euros. Im going for an accuracy build.... will be using .25 BBs (max allowed)

Im guessing I need:
-TBB (would love a Prometheus 6.03 550mm...dont know if it works with stock hopup-> have read about some issues????) any other 6.03 (Madbull??? Laylax??-> how good are laylax 6.03s?) or 6.01 550 barrels for the VSR 10? p.s. PDI for 160+ = NO WAY. EdGI told me 140 for his....ehhh nah!
-Metal Spring guide w/ bearings
-M150/M160 Spring (what brands would you advise from the 3 websites posted?)
-Piston
-Hop up Bucking (any brand? please advise me)

Version 1:
-Prometheus 6.03 550mm from ehobbyasia= 78 USD inkl. shipping
-PDI VSR-10 Hopup Chamber 2nd Version= 75 USD (i've heard that there is no need for buckings?)
-PDI VSR-10 Vacuum Piston= 60 USD...or PDI Ezy Piston=51 USD on ehobby
-PDI VSR-10 Spring guide for Vacuum Piston= 20 USD
-PDI 330 VSR-10 Spring= 27 USD (dont know if it works with the Guide and Piston)
+ 30 USD shipping!
= 290 USD ~ 220 Euro, which I find acceptable...

Version 2:
-laylax 6.03 VSR 10 555mm barrel= 76 USD
-Nineball VSR-10 bucking= 25 USD (or better? please advise!)
-PDI VSR-10 Vacuum Piston= 60 USD...or PDI Ezy Piston=51 USD on ehobby
-PDI VSR-10 Spring guide for Vacuum Piston= 20 USD
-PDI 330 VSR-10 Spring (or otherwise? airsoftzone.at - Accessories - Parts - Springs - M150 Spring for VSR-10 Series (MAG) maybe??)= 27 USD
+30 USD shipping
= 238 USD ~ 180 Euro...better, but not sure if it is 'better'

As I dont plan to use over a M150/160 spring, i dont believe that sears/trigger set are needed. Teflon cylinders either...

I will be doing every DIY mod from barrel stabalisers to Teflon tapings and even cylinder stabalising.

What do you say? is this a wrothy build? will i be getting good accuracy out of this? does anyone know of any cheaper alternatives?

Please help a confused European man...
Thanks
luismx

Lots of misinformation here; the stock barrel is 430mm in length, those prices are blown up and you will need sears.

Recommended route:

Tokyo Marui Precision Hop Up Chamber and Brass Barrel set w/bucking $76 shipped from ehobby
SHS sears + shipping
PDI VSR 11mm spring of your choice
PDI Hard Piston
-$60 shipped from X fire
Dangerwerx arm from ASPUK (optional if doing TDC)

Below $200 USD which is way below $200 Euros.

Btw, a PDI 6.05 from X-fire costs $70 and 6.01 costs $100 - still pretty expensive, but way cheaper than what you've been told.

Do the TDC mod, R hop and other DIY mods and you've got a very good build that's also within your budget.

hey marks!

thanks for your quick reply!
but im sorry to say that YOU are falsly informed. My BAR 10 came with a 550mm inner barrel and a bull barrel outer 690mm.

Ive just sent Xfire a request for:
PDI 6.01 inner barrel 550m
Trigger set v2
Vacuum Metal Piston
Hop up bucking
VSR 10 330 Spring (cant remember if 11 or 13mm....do both work with the piston?)
9mm spring guide
= total of about 250 euro. Its more than I wanted to give out, but I'm getting more than I expected for the price, so why not invest a tad more??

Can someone clear up the piston, spring and spring guide delima? 9mm spring guide goes with every piston and every spring from PDI?

thanks

Well if that's true, I'll have to say that's the first of it's kind I've seen...never heard of a JG BAR 10 come stock with a bull barrel and a 550mm inner barrel.

The PDI piston fits both outer diameter springs, however, 11mm must go with 7mm spring guides. I recommend you not to get a PDI 330% because that may put you above 530 FPS.

And your order is not ideal, especially since you ordered a W hold bucking to go along with a double pronged hop up arm which will match up horribly.

Also, if you're going to buy the PDI 6.01, get the 10mm OD one - it costs the same and you get extra thickness.

PDI barrel, V trigger, piston, spring and spring guide can come from PDI. Get your hop up parts elsewhere. I'd suggest the Lonex bucking.

Remember though, it's going to take tuning and DIY to get that thing shooting well - and there are a lot of easy DIY mods that I highly recommend for your setup.

In your link from "AirsoftGun AT" the picture is of a Bar10 with a standard Pro barrel. Not a bull barrel.
Are you sure it is not a Pro Barrel?

To save money do not get the PDI hopup chamber as they sick but time. The stock JG chamber is better.

The trigger sears will wear out a lot quicker but you can replace that at a later date. (Probably not too far away)

unfortunately im in a mix between a prommy 6.03 barrel, and a PDI 6.01... there are soooo many threads out there, but none really scientific (with test and so on). If i get the Prommy, ill need the PDI hop up chamber, which im guessing is a good investment....and it pretty much equals out the cost of the PDI (PDI: 90€, Prommy+ PDI hop up:92€)

V1 PDI barrel: 262€ (161 w/o Trigger and spring)
PDI 6.01 550mm 10mm outer, inner barrel: 96
PDI v2 trigger set: 88
PDI VSR 10 bucking: 3.80
PDI VSR spring guide: 12.50
PDI VC piston: 33.50
PDI VSR-10 280 Spring: 12.50
Shipping: 16

V2 Prometheus barrel: 264€ (163 w/o Trigger and spring)
Prometheus 6.03 inner barrel: 60
PDI v2 trigger set: 88
PDI Hop up chamber v2: 38
PDI AEG bucking: 3.80
PDI VSR spring guide: 12.50
PDI VS Piston: 33.50
PDI VSR-10 280 spring: 12.50
Shipping: 16

im contemplating buying everything, minus the Trigger set and spring, for the moment, to see how it runs. if it gets to stiff, i might get the V2 trigger. if im shooting too soft, get a better spring... So...V1 or V2....

@1tonne. yes i ment Pro Long not bull...sorry... why not get the PDI HOP up chamber? if im going with an AEG barrel (prommy), its something that i have to do. if someone can convince me to use the PDI 6.01 over the prommy 6.03 for long ranges, im ready to change it!

Read this thread: http://www.airsoftsniperforum.com/41-vsr-rifles/6075-advanced-vsr-sniper-building-guide.html
Just past halfway down the page there is a title called "To purchase a PDI Variable Hopup Chamber or Not." It will explain why not to get the PDI chamber. (It is a short read)
If you want to use an AEG barrel there is also an easy mod on the thread. Check halfway down the page for "VSR-10 AEG BARREL MOD". It only takes about 20 minutes to do and it works well.
You could just get the Laylax VSR10 6.03mm x 555mm barrel as it will go straight into the Bar10 chamber and it is a good barrel. You will most likely need a silencer to cover the inner barrel. Your current outer Pro barrel will only fit a 430mm inner barrel. You can check this by measuring from the end of the barrel to the magwell where you should see hopup rubber

PDI barrel tolerances are within .002 mm and the inner surface finish is superb - it's a better option than the Laylax, hence the price. It also allows for an easier R hop installation in the future compared to the Laylax. However, decide for yourself based on prices.

Evidently, you're also not following when I say "Get your hop up parts elsewhere." And I mean that....stick with the VSR style chamber and bucking. If you are to get any aftermarket hop up unit, the TM chamber wins hands down...you can't deny the cost-effectiveness of a $60 3 in 1 upgrade which performs better than almost every other costlier option.

6.01 vs 6.03....im going for long range sniper....under 150 feet doesnt really count. what is better? i keep reading 6.03s...but tests show 6.01s leading up to 150 feet...is this true?

I have a 6.01 and it performs superb up to 300 ft. Other people have 6.03s and those people say their barrels are superb as well. Point is, barrel inner bore doesn't matter as much as tolerance, consistency and quality (unless you're trying to get experimental with 6.23s and such). When you go PDI, you know you're getting the best aftermarket barrel for general purposes because of their .002 mm tolerance.

why .25s? im going for .28s,.3s and or maybe higher
That's what you said...
