So I'm in the process of building a dmr "ish" aeg m4. I'm trying to emphasize decent range, accuracy, semi auto trigger response while keeping it relatively compact and under 400fps. Anyways I bought some capacitors to improve the trigger response. They are 5.5v .33F each so should I make a 11v capacitor bank or should I make it 16.5v?

I know the easiest solution would be just to get an three cell lipo, but I wanted to use NIMH batteries cause they're less temperamental... I know how to properly use a lipo (I use 7.4 lipos in another build),but Its still annoying to keep them at the correct levels...

Any other suggestions are welcome too, I'm not quite clueless about DC circuits but I'm not too far away from that either.

11v or 16.5v capacitor bank?

capacitor banks is out date. Lipo and mosfet is more better.

There's no reason you can't move to a cap bank + Lipo and Mosfet. I have done experiments and research into the Cap banks that you're looking and and I hooked three up in series to make a 16.5v because the voltage of the cap bank should be roughly 50% more than the batteries you are running through it.

And to clarify here guys; he is looking at super caps they have 100x the amount of capacity that regular capacitors have and my three cap bank is no bigger than an 8.4v NimH battery :) If you have the space make one up and put ti in because they do appear to offer a performance boost.

Thanks for the replies guys... I was trying to avoid lipos for reasons stated and because I already have a 4200mah 9.6. I'm planning on getting a full stock to fit all the electronics, also a mosfet is on my list of things to add at some point. I've got a lonex a2 high torque motor coming on Wednesday which should help a lot.

Thanks for chiming in sanguinor, I think it might've been one of your posts that I learned about cap banks in the first place.

I think I'll make it 16.5 volts like you said. If I get around to actually doing this in the next week or two I'll try to post my results.

In a couple months I'll probably break down and just get a decent 11.1 lipo but this should keep me busy until then.

If the weather here in sunny England is as crap as it is predicted later I will knock a write up together (I might even break out the soldering iron and make another one, time dependent).

Rifleman, you're very much welcome. I built mine to couple with a 12v NimH battery to go with my pre-cocking project, not because I'm against Lipo's but because I'm a skint and finding budget ways to do stuff is my forte!
