I'd rather just have an extended MED than a crazy low FPS limit.. My local field rules are 510FPS max, with a 100ft MED for any gun shooting over 400fps. Quite sensible compared to other places I've heard of. And it's a poorly managed field at that.

What field do you go to? I'm only about 50 minutes from Chattanooga.

Frankly I think crazy far MED's like 100 ft for 400 fps is a bit nuts. Maybe 50 ft. But I've never seen ops that allow fps higher than 600, and of those that allow up to 600, med for 500-600 was 150 ft, 450-500 100 ft, and 400-450 50ft. below 400, bang bang within 10 feet if possible.

If anything they should do player screenings for sniper rifle users, to make sure they have a decent head on their shoulders. Any dipshit 13 year old with his stock bar10 will, as stated previously, just ruin the image of sniper rifle users.

That is more or less how we deal with it at East Wind. We're pretty small for a national/international event however so what's easy for us to do would rapidly become quite burdensome for a guy trying to herd all the cats needed to run a 400-600 player event.

Keep in mind here, I am not trying to argue FOR the ban idea, just trying to point out some of the factors that are likely leading to event promoters pursuing that option. If you understand what is driving these decisions, you can better come up with a course of action to mitigate them.

Some one mentioned Lion Claws events and their polices toward snipers. When the sniper class is allowed the chrono is 467 FPS with .36 BBs. They can be DMRs or BASR. Sniper positions are limited to one sniper team per platoon. Because they are milsim events LC trys to keep the number of "special" roles limited similarly to real military. The platoon leader is allowed to choose who will be on his sniper team from his platoon. The only time that the sniper class is not available is with games that are mostly CQB such as Operation Red Storm East in Scranton, PA.

Well, I havent been in a while as I've been sorting gear/funds/life out, but the field is Highpoint (Its actually in North GA about 30 from here, but I'm at my dad's every other weekend right near by). Under different management than before though.. According to my brother who is on the team who runs the field now, the main guy who runs the games has been using a 530fps (with .20) AKM, even on full auto. I can't confirm it but if that's true, he's breaking his own rules, thus if confirmed I won't be playing if he does. Should probably PM though so we can stay on topic here :p
