A&K SR-25 vs. G&G M14 Veteran

Im new to this site and I want to have a DMR. I eventually will be upgrading the gun if I feel it needs to be. But 2 guns that caught my eye are the A&K SR-25 and G&G M14. I will be using it stock for a while to get a feel for the gun. Ive heard good things about both guns while they are stock so I just want some clarification. Any help is appreciated.

I have the SR-25 and I love it. All I did was reshim and did some compression stuff and it shoots great. It will shoot a little bit further than most stock aegs. I really like mine. However, it is a rareish gun so finding parts can be a pain also mags are expensive. I bought mine from overseas to help with cost. Most plate carriers have built in m4 mag slots which sucks cause you cant use them. If you want a unique gun go for it but if you want easy go for a different gun.

I was thinking about how I would feel about doing upgrades on a gun. I could do minor installs like buckings and barrels but probably not things that involve taking apart the gearbox. How good is the G&G M14 Veteran stock. Also the G&G GR25?

Ive never used either. But the GR25 is very expensive. But G&G makes great guns.

Both are in the same price range. If Im going to get a gun I would rather get one that will work great with little to know modification.

SR25, it's not even a comparison, lol.
The SR25 has the elongated V2, more air compression, better for tbb and etc.
Sure, the G&G M14 is great, but you will have problems with the crappy ish stock.

Ok I just spent the past hour and a half looking for things for the A&K SR-25 seeing as it does have the elongated gearbox.

I personally have done nothing to the gearbox on my A&K SR25, I've worked on compression with the barrel and hopup is custom, a few things with the motor and deans swaps- besides external mods that is all.
It shoots 450 fps with .25's, great range.
With ALL A&K's you should check the screws/threads, make sure you tighten everything.
They have a very simple policy, they don't tighten things too much because they don't want to be liable for crossthreading or damaging the product, blablabla- check your screws, make sure everything is set when you get it, and have fun

Ok thanks that is very helpful! I was looking at the Prometheus 6.20mm Delta Strike Barrel. Is this barrel good and would it increase the overall accuracy of the SR-25?

I use a Madbull Python II Black 6.03 in mine, but a Prometheus should do just fine- if not better. I would stick around 6.03 or maybe .02 if you're increasing compression.

Yeah, the 6.20 is usually exclusively used for HPA style rifles

That's not true at all.
Example- gas blow backs can use 6.02 just fine....
HPA style rifles are not very effective with 6.02, anyone who tells you they are knows nothing about HPA's.
Widebore barrels are far more effective in HPA compared to TBB.

I some what caught in the same decision gate. M14 or SR25... can't make up my mind.

Oh well. When in doubt wait it out. Might come down to rolling dice for odds or evens.

I recently was in the exact same position as you! I really think the m14 looks good but so does the sr25, i feel the sr25 is a bit more "special" but i have no idea why since the m14's design is so unique. However i read about the two and found that m14 supposedly is a bit more complicated when it comes to teching, but that it's very nice in stock form. The sr25 however seemed very easy to tech and maintain. I am new to teching and wanted more money to upgrade the gun so i went with a PJ25 (a&k sr25) which supposedly is a preupgraded sr25, and it's about 60 euro cheaper than the m14.

And well, i put in some upgrades (never done this before), i opened the gearbox and well, AoE correction wasn't needed, they had done that for me. There wasn't too much grease in it and it was even shimmed differently than the stock ones from a&k. (a&k put on shim on each side of the gear). I ended up forgetting how they had done so i just reshimmed it. It was so easy and not at all complicated, as long as you use your logic alongside the internet! (Especially forums)

So far my experience with the a&k sr25 is wonderful, it shoots good and consistency in stock form, atleast the one i got, was amazing! Out of the box i shot 10 shots, 7 on 458fps, 2 on 457 and 1 on 460.

I have not tested it yet after the upgrades but i am pretty sure should be just as consistent now (I threw in a new bucking, tbb, hop unit, r-hop + m-nub, along with some teflon seals).

Externally the gun have a good feeling to it, the finish is nice and the weight is very well balanced considering the stock is hollow = Alot of room for battery's and other stuff. If you run 9,6 nimh 1600 mah you can have 2 of those in there without a problem.

I won't reccommend it as i have no experience and as of so i'm not sure how valid what i say is and if it is just me being overexcited about my new hobby

I believe you will be happy with either one i just wanted to add my experience with it ^^
