Questions
Is there any way I can silence this thing down? It's pretty loud.
If I chop down the outer and inner barrel to the shown length, and add a sorbo pad, would the cylinder volume be decent for stealth and accuracy?

From what I remember with my old SVD, the outer barrel is so small there's no room for spacers. Any other ideas?

I have a mock suppresor on a G36 and it muffles the sound a LOT. It's about 8" and the inner barrel stops where the supressor starts. It has foam inside the supressor, so I would think that would help in making it quieter.

This is what I've done to my SVD :

-Falcon hop up bucking : this makes the SVD deadly silent
-Sorbo pad on cylinder head
-Teflon barrel spacers : simply roll teflon tape each 15 centimeters or so.
-Mock homemade silencer.
-Tape the spring : avoid the "clonk" noise.

The next thing to do is glue a silicon pad on the piston head, but if you have v2 piston head (or v3, I don´t remember) it´s done yet.

You can also fill the handguard with foam.

With this mods you will have a very silent SVD.

I have dreamed of this exact concept as a side build on and off for years, if you build this please let us know how it runs and take tons of pictures. I think that the project is a great idea, eliminating that clunky under volumed barrel and making a nice quiet, highly mobile and fast bolt action rifle.
