Hi, I'm Liam. I'm 18, from the UK and awaiting my A-level results in August so I know what I'm doing next. It's most likely going to be re-sitting the last year to bump the grades up a bit, then hopefully (if all goes to plan) off to University to do Marine Biology or Conservation Biology.
If I get the chance, I intend on leaving the UK and moving to the USA.
I started airsoft almost 2 years ago (August 2010), first gun I ever used was a rental MP5 - it was awful to be honest. Had no range or accuracy, enjoyed it nonetheless and have been going regularly ever since.
Got my first AEG (an A&K M4A1 CQB) for Christmas in 2010, I only played Urban then. Started going to woodland in March 2011, tried out someone's sniper for half a day there and loved it. So, I got an L96 a couple of weeks later. It had its problems - weak trigger mechanism, poor hop unit and air seals, and the barrel was cut badly so the BBs veered to the left constantly. Also had no sidearm at the time, so had my M4 on my back, lugging the two of them around all day was hard work.
Got a TM Glock 17 as an early birthday present in May. Also bought pretty much a complete set of upgrades for my sniper; cylinder, cylinder head, piston, spring guide, spring, metal trigger mechanism, hop unit and tight bore barrel. All upgrade parts were bought from ASPUK, I believer Darren's on here as Dazz666. Sniper was then firing at 490 FPS consistently and accurately.
I had a full set of weapons - an AEG for urban and CQC, a sniper for woodland and a sidearm for both. All was good, until my M4 starting locking up and failing on me. Rather than buying a new AEG, I bought a G&P 8mm complete gearbox, G&P M120 motor and (another) MadBull tight bore barrel. The gearbox didn't fit into the A&K receiver, so rather than try to fix the A&K, I sold it as is for £85. In November 2011, I bought a G&P M16, Madbull tightbore and blue hop rubber and an ARES M16 RIS kit, which now shoots pretty damn well.
This leaves me where I am now, with 3 working guns (although a few recent issues with the L96) and an almost-complete set of internals for an M4.
Spent a lot more than an 18 year old should do on airsoft, but have no intentions of stopping any time soon!
Camo-wise, I don't bother with anything too good. If I use my M16, I wear a simple black vest with 6 mag pouches, then a drop-leg holster for my Glock.
If I snipe, I wear DPM top and trousers, sidearm in the drop-leg holster and spare magazines and tools etc. go in my pockets. Not too great really.
My other hobbies include listening to music, going to music festivals and concerts, reading books, cycling (nothing serious, I just like a long bike ride every now and then), computer games, and hanging out with friends.
I think that's everything, sorry it's so long, and thanks for reading!
Now I'll be off to have a read of some of the guides etc. on here, they look pretty good!!
