I see the point. Thats a good idea for those who own a mill! I imagine that just drilling would not be possible due to the angeld topform of the drill...
I don't have a mill, I squared off a drill bit to do it!

Installed my Kit last week. Easy job, most difficult part was to get the screw head thinned and shorted. It is working great. However getting the barrel in/out is a bit of a hustle now. I realy like the design and operation of this mod, however im undesided if a traditional tdc wont be the better option overall.

A traditional TDC would require direct pressure on the hop arm, and the hop arm REALLY doesn't like that. You will cause damage to it. You would have to use a different chamber really, or manufacture a stronger arm for the AA one.

To be honest, I clean my barrel after every game and I can have it taken apart really quickly. It is a slight inconvenience but not too difficult, and the advantages the mod gives outweigh these niggles imo.

Like i said it works great and it looks nice, specially the metall one.

I dont see a problem in using a normal tdc on the arm of the aa chamber, the pressure you need to apply is maginal compared to the structual capability of that arm. I have the plastic kit installed on my current barrel but i also have the metall kit and will try to mod it to function as a regular tdc for my next barrel. I will let you know how it turns out ;)

Skeee if you reading this, would be nice if you could design a lower turret for regular tdc use :)

Of course I do read this ;)

Last time I have done a "regular" TDC mod, the adjustment was not as fine as this way here.
The transmisssion ratio is significantly better when using a hopup arm. There you have the lever Act + the pitch of the screw for adjusting.
A regular TDC only depends on the pitch of the screw how sensitive you can adjust it.

...but neverseless perhaps I'll give another try someday!

Hay, this looks great, well done @skeee !

I was wondering if this is purchased as a full kit, just fit it an play, or do I need to machine anything?

And us it available to the UK, an at what cost?

Sorry if this has already been discussed. I'm working and don't have time to read the whole post

Cheers

When you order the parts from shapeways you just receive the upper and lower parts of the turret. On the site you have the choice of high-wuality plastic or metal, obviously at differing costs.

You will have to locate the two M3 bolts, M3x7 spring plunger and M3x20 hex bolt yourself, as well as the glue/epoxy and, of course, the AA hop chamber's specific parts. It is available in the UK but at a greater shipping cost. I am in the UK myself.

You will need to drill your outer barrel, grind down the replacement screw to size and also file any parts as needed (my turret pieces needed filing in order to rotate together). Before you commit I strongly advise you actually do read the thread. All the information is contained within.

Hello all. I see this thread has seen it's fair share of questions and most of what I've read has been helpful. I'm located in America and finding the proper spring plunger and correct screws is becoming more and more of a problem for me. So I'm reaching out to all the American snipers on here. I can find the turret and base no problem but I need links to screws, nuts, and the threaded spring plunger. Please I need these ASAP.

Mh i think you have overtightened it so that it has destroyed the little bit of aliminium which hold this screw in the AA Unit... You could try to make a new 0.1mm bigger screw. Perhaps this one might still stay in place. Otherwise I fear you might have to get a new HU Unit.

Would it be possible to place a "bracket" and redrill a smaller hole?

This should show the problem, and solution should it happen.

The blue arrows show the location of the thin material that the screw can pull through.

The yellow outline shows where I milled and fitted a modified screw to replace it with.

The photos show the modified screw.
How did you drill this whole there? Can you give more details. I have all the parts to install this mod, but I am a little worried about the screw holding on very thin aluminum part.

Just glue a nut on top or inside of the outerbarrel and then you don't have to worry about the aluminum getting ruined. Just make sure it's the right size but and you have enough length to still apply pressure to the top up arm

You can't on the inside? The hopup unit is in the way?
