motor tab connector is probably pinched and grounded out. you should probably rredo all the wiring. One way to check is to pull the motor out of the gun and run power to and see if it spins. That will help either point the finger or rule out the motor

Not to get in the middle but i will add my $ .02, I always use a fuse. never had space concerns and I like 14.8v for DMR's plus I have seen way to many shorted out wires on different peoples guns to not want one. If there is a short then the fuse pops, and you dont potentially ruin your $100 dollar motor.

Not saying you have to have a fuse, but I would rather be safe than sorry
