Modern AEG's don't even really need fuses anymore, only if the motor is botchy. The change of an electrical surge etc. is minimal now.

Really? Care to place your AEG on that?

I can vouch for tall grass, I remove the fuse from all my guns, haven't had an issue yet. I also have never had a fuse blow on me, indicating that from what I have personally seen, fuses are basically vestigial parts now within normal circumstances.

They take up space, I have never had one blow so I don't feel my gearbox and wiring is in danger, and if it does buy the farm I enjoy the extra practice to work on my box. But as I said, I have ran an 11.1 in a bunch of guns without fuse and have yet to have a problem.

Another big reason a tech will give you is that they create resistance, so if your going for a high ROF gearbox setup, any bit of resistance you can remove helps. This means no fuse = faster, by how much I couldn't say but technically it would.

Not to mention a lot of mosfets nowadays have built in resettable fuses.
