Well as my other thread has stated.... I have received my Ares Wa2000.

So I took some time today and did some figuring with her, and got her all taken down. Was able to get the cylinder out and everything measured and written down. With some figuring with the original cylinder was able to get some things turned and made up.

I cut down some delrin and had some fun on the lathe.

So I figured I would take some pics of the parts that were made, and how they turned out. I am not sure if I am going to keep the delrin for the piston, or if I am going to get some aluminum and go that route.

Though I must say that it does slide inside the cylinder very VERY well. I may try and make a hybrid of the two and see what happens, or use an old barrel or something for the air shaft.

But here are the pics of the piston as well as my lathe, and work bench.

Yeah the lathe is off, so no harm done

In my old car there was a dent in the side from a chuck key
My 9x20 JET lathe was out in my garage, and I turned her on with the key still in her..... and yeah I about pooped myself!

It is a blast to cut, as it cuts just like butter! Though all the little strands really get everywhere.

Yes the Asahi was able to do both....

This one will be the first Ares WA2000 that can run on HPA or Co2 ;)

Just go to harbor freight for the lathe, and some fun little bits of tooling as well.

Yeah that is what I was planning on. I just about always wear a hydration pack anyway. And was going to see about keeping as much as I can inside the rifle.

I will be able to get more of her done here today. So that is going to be a fun thing

Nothing can go under the hand guard, as that is where the mag tube is held ;)

And I have to say..... clear your weapon before you work on them. Stupid me cocked the rifle to test the compression, thought it was empty........ and yeah shot myself in the finger. I said some not to sunday school friends words

I am planning on keeping all of the electronics and what not inside, so the regs will have to be outside. And I already have those things planned out, it is just the main parts that I am needing to build and get done.

Well a small update... .

I have my Star SL8, and have gone through it and found out what I am needing and what metals I need to get this project going finally! My orders are placed and ready to go, so as soon as the metal gets here I will be good to go with some pics and other goodies....

Well I received my material today. Will get some pics and will start cutting soon.

Well after a half hour on the lathe I have the basic shape cut out. Just need to take off the extra material and bore my hole and I am done with the piston and spring guide.

I am charging my camera battery now and will get pics up tomorrow I hope. As well some pics of a camera mount I am working on so I can get some footage from a snipers point of view.

Heck yeah man.... I am going to hit the electronics stores today and try and get the good I need, and I may even have enough funds now to pick up my buckmark rifle as well ;)

Well there was a huge miss when it came to me finding my electronic parts.

I am also starting to think about making a V2 gearbox kit for these as well. Get the cylinders and mill out the parts, and then leave the electronics and other items to the buyer.

Spring guide on lathe still

Spring guide all done

Spring guide inside of cylinder.

When trying to chuck up the piston to finish her up, I notices that I don't have enough material for the lathe to hold on to. I did to much to quick, so it looks like I have to make it again. No biggie I will get it done as soon as I take a break for a little bit and get some homework done.

Well I took a look at the other my piston, and figured I would give it another try, and see what I can do to make her work.

Well with a little time and patients I was able to get it to work
And here are the pics to prove it........ And yes before anyone says anything, I know I don't have a hole drilled through the center, but I am needing to get some more drill bits and I can get the inners about done.

Now all I am doing is trying to figure out how I am going to drill the end cap, for the fittings needed for the air system.

This pic you can see how the spring guide and the piston are lining up. I am planning on using the stock spring as my inner spring

If by production you mean large numbers...... I am not sure.

I may be able to do a few of just the piston, and spring guide, as well as the end cap. And leave the rest up to the buyer.

But again this is just down the road.

Well I have the electronics being delivered to me on sunday, from a friend at the company I bought them from.

I will start soldering the things together and get this back on track with the building.
