I would look at the pins as plus. Unless you insist on pulling them in and out repeatedly to the point they fit lose, there shouldn't be any worry of them slowly backing out like the grub screws can.
More reviews and comparisons I see of this rifle, more nicer it looks. I used to own a AtoZ that got sold eventually and replaced with a first gen A&K, and the A&K was just an absolute horrible replacement. From the cast vs milled receiver, to odd shaped bolt handle, to incorrect looking covers, and solid cast gas blocks vs actual assembled pieces along with other small bits like the trigger sear and plastic vs wood furniture, the A&K was just utter shit honestly.
These SVD -S rifles look rather nice for their price point, especially the updated style of hop up chamber. The AtoZ chamber that A&K copied could be made to work very nicely, it just took time tuning to get there, and A&K just did a horrible job getting their holes drilled right and aligned on their chambers which cause quite a bit of issues. These chambers in the SVD-S look more user friendly and rather nice too.
